Hopefully we won't have to carryout an annual tighten. I was pleased to see the back of that job, my skinned knuckles are healing well now

hat's annoying Gary trivial jobs can be such a PITA
Especially when supposedly fully configurable kit proves to be anything but... There's four dual channel spa gauges in the car, about 800 Quid's worth, invested in for accuracy and flexibility, precisely one has done what it was supposed to without hassle... Oh and let's not mention the fact the housings are all different sizes and none the 52mm claimed. Unimpressed doesn't get closeSpent most of the day trying to diagnose/fault find the most hideous mis-fire after changing the dizzy cap, HT leads, coil and doing away with the plug extenders and fitting thermal socks... Having got fed up of getting nowhere called it day and went to bed frustrated and angry.
Out to the garage first thing this morning and within 20 seconds spotted that I'd got the leads for cylinders 5 and 7 the wrong way round
Did I check them yesterday. Of course not ! Why would I when I'd already triple checked before putting the dizzy cap back on... What a wally !
Took him for a quick blast and its driving so much better than before
P.s. All the above was changed as preventative maintenance rather than a failure as I'm off to europe in the summer and don't fancy getting potentially stranded. Is it also worth changing the ignition module as well ? Have heard it can go along with the coil, but seeing as the original coil seemed fine I'm in 2 minds. Thoughts ?

Far too long , but had lots of distraction along the way.
This is going to be a track only car so didn't go bonkers over the protection.
Just had it all blasted and zinc rich primer sprayed. Then hand painted it witj red oxide primer and and an enamel type top coat.
Next time I would take it somewhere with their own spray capabilities. And have it sprayed with epoxy two pack. To actually build the chassis back up again only took a couple of saturdays.

Fitted new speakers and hot start mod. Used my new ecumate lite (guess whos birthday it was?) showing one fault code as lambda sensor out of range. Left ECU unplugged over night and I will see if it reappears.
Then went over to the local paint supplies and got an aerosol made up and spent a very satisfying hour with a fine brush.
Finally resealed the windscreen rubber and washed and polished.
I didn't quite get the tinkering/driving ratio quite right this weekend but will make up for it next weekend.

Take the coil and amp as spares, don't fit them if your current ones are working OK, I needed a new coil as a spare to take abroad, so fitted a new one and put the old one in the boot as the spare. Guess what failed in the stifling heat of the Ardennes? Yes the new coil. I put the old one back and it ran like a dream for the rest of the week in 37 degree heat. The new coil was from a well known TVR outlet, but it was not their fault, I hear there is a lot of crap stuff going around these days and tend to err on the side of, if it ain't broke, don't replace it.Edited by kris450 on Sunday 8th February 12:21

I finally got around this weekend to fitting the insulated roller shutter door I've had for about a year so I can get the garage warm enough to be able to work in it.
Now I have no excuse for not getting the irritating rear end clunk found and sorted out.
You could do the one on the car at the same time.......two birds with one stone? Now I have no excuse for not getting the irritating rear end clunk found and sorted out.

I have a policy of keeping in the car the last set as a back up in case the new ones fail and have don this with all my cars for 30 years. First time ever its been useful (Although it has meant I was able to help other from time to time with spare leads and other ignition bits when theirs have failed.)
I bought some manifolds off of Rib last year as one of mine are cracked, finally pulled my finger out and got them blasted..
Was just going to slot the bottom bolt holes, but the grinder was right next to the polisher so I wasted an hour giving myself an arm ache
Going to paint the pipes and maybe wrap the top one to stop the melty HT leads..
