Changed the battery. Not as fiddly on the later ones as on the early ones - providing you marked the position of the fibre glass battery box. I then went out for a drive for an hour and cant wait for summer, dry roads and warm tyres!

Not exactly yesterday but over the last couple of months I've practically stripped everything underneath the car, removed layers of hideous waxoil, ground off the flaky powder coating and applied two layers of epoxy mastic to the chassis.
Had all the wishbones and a few other bits shot blasted and powder coated and cleaned up all the ancillary bits and pieces.
It's all ready to go back together now with new Protech shocks and other bits and pieces. smile

Good work! Is it worth putting new UJ's on the prop and perhaps new bushes on the diff whilst you have everything out? You could give the diff a lick of paint whilst you're at it.

Thanks, as always with these beasties everything takes longer than you plan for. rolleyes
I had been contemplating that but I'm desperate to get the car back on the road and listen to that V8 burble again! smile
I'm intending to keep the car for sometime so will probably line up that job for next years winter lay up along with some engine work.

Nice work mach2, have done the same just now, but with grey instead of white. Will also sort the diff with new bearings and seals and maybe 3.23 gears

You can snip those off Derek, not required when in place.

I didnt want to risk bending or twisting the gaskets. They cost too much.
Lesser of 2 evils i reckon

Engine bay tidy up, and fitted some modified old school exhausts headers and y piece
Modifying the water tower was a knuckle scraper, it was a just....
The exhaust mod was so worth while , not that tiny fluttering noise..
Torque is way back up now with those longer straight headers rapped in bamboo leaves .. Ha haa . Sounds Awsome
The Old girl has had a nip n tuck and face lift !
Not bad for 116000 miles , not rebuilt , driven every day, still sounds sweet

Remember don't use any sealant of any kind, just everything clean and smooth.

looks really good Xworks, boiler room type fashion, which I lile!

No Tiv work today but put an exhaust on daughters Punto, new suspension leg on the Micra and did an oil, filter, o ring change on the ML.

Don't you hate it when you find there isn't a dipstick and you need a factory part to check oil level when the parts dept is SHUT!

Bugger!

You need the JE alternator bracket to finish that engine bay off
