I see their outriggers are a little more expensive that JE's. Any difference in quality do you think?
Nope I doubt it scratchchin they need fettling to fit whatever one's you choose chances are V8 Tuners are knocked out by JE wink I had quite a bit off V8 Tuner mostly though because he does OE quality gaskets which I needed

Those outrigger posts are JE... Can't see how you'd improve the quality as they're *just* precisely machined billet aluminium. Do exactly what they need to. Impressed with the rockers, very easy to set up and nice to say bye to those horrible shims! smile

Gary, the posts are machined too tight.

I fitted mine using a lot of heat and one split across the top after a few hundred miles!

When you set the whole lot up you should be able to see quite a few ways to improve them, if you look closely at the alignments.

But then again if you are still use springs to locate the arms it probably doesn't matter..

You know what Dave, springs have worked perfectly well for 125k miles of abuse and I don't have a lathe to make up spacers. But thanks for the suggestion if not the sarcasm. We going to see you at any events this year?

THERE WAS NO SARCASM.

small valves / poorly ported heads would also probably have worked well for 100,000's of miles (that is a sarcastic comment).

All these things add up & basically work like rev-limiters, stopping your valves opening fully at higher rpms IYSWIM. Think of it like when you hit something with a hammer ~ you know straight away when it sings in the middle (you can even start wondering about rocker pad destruction in terms of that if you want BTW).

They tend to flex at high revs.

They weren't designed for the BHP that our engines are producing now, only a puny 150 iirc.

What happens on my engine then?? The 450 and 500s use them yes? Will they survive 5500-6000 rpm and 300 horse?

I wouldnt have thought the BHP has much to do with it. More to do with high rpm and heavy duty double valve springs pushing up load levels.
My standard gear has survived years of upto 500 bhp and plenty times over 6000 rpm.

I decided this afternoon to take my mirrors off to prep my doors for respray and after hours of struggling the drivers mirror finally came off in my hand
when the bracket broke!!
So it's off to the breakers tomorrow to get a pair of Audi TT mirrors. The only consolation is the passenger side won't take as long because I'll give it 5 mins then the angle grinder and big hammer are coming out I'm not going there ever again.

Got the extended wheels studs and hubcentric spacers on so the new wheels fit properly. No rubbing or catching of wishbones or arches and full lock still avaliable. Handling feels exactly as before but I think I'll get a geo check at next service just to be sure.

Very happy, even the anthracite colour is growing on me.

Finished fitting the re-trimmed interior, ready to go to Joolz on Monday for a bigger airflow meter and a session on his Dyno.
