What did you do in the garage yesterday?
Discussion
Not yesterday but this morning, been a tad over three months since I last drove beastie, MOT ran out and went away for work etc etc but finally got her booked in with Mat Smith, about 4+ weeks ago and she's in tomorrow... so, checked stuff over this morning ready for the drive over to Mat's tomorrow morning, rain forecast (bloody typical), can't wait
Went through beasties service history and invoices for work done over the last four years checked last years MOT and bugger me I've only put 3K miles on her since last years MOT... despite upping the insurance mileage to 7k based on the fact that I went over 5K in the previous year... Can't sodding win on the insurance front..
Roll on tomorrow

New front discs and pads fitted - 283mm M-Tec cossie with EBC Yellows - must remember to jump on the brakes occasionally this time to stop the inner faces corroding. Tip for you guys with the Hans/Hi-Spec 4-pot calipers, keep on top of the pad pins, they do seize and are a real 'stard to extract mad
Also changed the front off-side wheel bearings while in there; what a fun job! How tight are those hub nuts!!

Got the car up in the air and checked all the bolts and connections after fitting the Scooby PS steering rack.
Roads seemed to be very quiet yesterday afternoon so took the car for a very spirited drive down country lanes.
The handling seemed particularly fantastic and the car stuck to the road like a leech. No more play in the steering and it felt well balanced and responsive.
I had a Carlsberg moment and came to the conclusion that this was probably the best handling chim in the world, probably
I had recently fallen out of love with the car due to the steering problem but now all is well, she's back!

On mine yesterday and back on it today, had a couple of small glitches (self inflicted) got to fit all the new inner wing heat shield liners and did away with the duct that runs from left to right and capped the holes (dont use the o/s floor heating anyway) much tidier and accessible behind the intake now..... and the motor is finished filled the oil galleries via the oil pick up and got the oil pump to prime with nothing more than a few crankshaft revolutions while the motor was upside down and no rocker gear fitted

Thats good Peter! My car now starts, has full oil pressure and goes like st of a shovel! Timing is now set to 28* at 4000 and with much help from Steve Sprint I'm running a modified 500 decat chip, no shunting and lots of power from 1000 revs all the way. I'll make a post about my journey later Roads seemed to be very quiet yesterday afternoon so took the car for a very spirited drive down country lanes.

hows your getting on you wound up that boost a tad yet?
Steady at about 5psi currently - can't really go further until I sort the clutch and gearbox. Clutch is only just coping (can provoke slipping quite easily) but that might be a good thing as gearbox is getting decidedly flaky feeling - I need to use the car for Le Mans so not ideal time to dive in and do what I need to right now...Really pleased with the oil cooler; proved to be very effective indeed

Nice one Gary I dont blame you there, oil cooler which one? Modine? Really pleased with the oil cooler; proved to be very effective indeed
No, went the traditional air matrix route in the end; a 19 row Mocal fed by sandwich plate but unconventionally laying down and let into the flat cross-panel that lies in front of the radiator. The way I have mounted it also allows additional air to the turbo inlet so kills two birds
