I've got practically nothing to do so did a little clay baring and one coat of wax.

That's the first time I've spent that much time on the bodywork, (to be fair it was only a couple of hours).

Crickey she's looking stunning Peter, I'm loving the front spoiler, and for the first time I can say I like the black wheeled look,
Proper mean she looks.

Peter I've just looked again,,, soooo impressed, that spoiler, did you post anything up when fitting it,
What's it off again, from the pics it's lines and profile look made for the car, with the black wheels it all ties in very nicely,
Sorry off topic slightly but the vids of you at Snett, impressive.,
Quick question
What revs were you changing gear, your rev counter jumps abit,
Gordon Bennett down the back straight your in fifth really early and boy does she still pull back up the rev band quickly,,,
Your actually human,,,,,a spin,,, I feel much better about myself haha.
You've got power oversteer at will with your right foot by the looks of it.
What a car,,, I didn't really like it at first, dunno why, maybe cos the green one was so cool, but you've done again,
The work you do is inspirational to us DIYers
I am hoping to pop down to Bedford on the 15th but I'll say nearer the date. Al

Thanks Alun, your comments are appreciated.

On track I usually change at 5.5k as peak powe is at 5.3k.
At the end of the day with a good exit from the last bend before the back straight I was hitting 140mph, probably nearly 20mph up on the 4.6.
I have to always squeeze the throttle carefully coming out of bends or the rear will easily light up.
That day at Snetterton I was running R1Rs, not the best choice for a dry track but rain was forcast.
Triple 8s would have given that much more grip but sadly a choice had to be made on the forcast.

If you can make it to Bedford that would be great, look forward to catching up.

Oh, the splitter was A one off designed for a cerb.
I had to trim it down to fit the front of the chim as the Cerb has a longer nose.

Began packing my lovely four car garage ready to move house. frown
Good luck with that.

I dread the day that I have to move.
Well I've had to pack up my current garage in preparation for it to be knocked down and a larger double version installed, managed to secret a lot of it in various sheds but had to dump a huge amount of stuff which I know I'm going to now need at some point, can't have too many widgets ....

That's right I remember now,, bespoke,, bang on.
Those revs that's what I thought, mmmm, tasty.
That spin, I've got to remind myself everytime,
Any more than a few degrees of slide is a tank slapper waiting to happen,,
I've got this theory that says I can slide everywhere as long as it's only a few degrees, mostly it's pointless but usefull to rotate the car at apex's etc,
140mph,,,,,, say no more. Awesome car Peter.

Nice ! what`s this clay bar thing ,seen a cloth version . Will it take over spray from when I was tinkering painting brackets in the same area ?

What`s the difference between clay bar and something like G3 ?

I second your comments about tank slappers (or any kind of slapper for that matter) in a Chimaera.
Once the rear starts to come round, trying to catch it can end up with a lot of misery.

Its the reason for this:

The corner is the Esses at Mallory, from top left, heading for bottom right of the picture. Pit entrance bottom left.
I came round the right hand corner on the wrong line and too fast (110 mph) after overtaking another car who omitted to slow down, lost the back end mid-corner, and had a split second to decide whether to try to fight it or simply slam on and go straight on the way I was heading. Chose the latter, ended up in the gravel facing the pits entrance, and spent the next hour clearing gravel out of the front suspension and working out why the car wouldn't start (roll over cut out had done just that). The alternative would have been to risk ending up in the armco on the right. Correct decision, I think

Two different processes doing different things.

Clay cloths are the same as a clay bar.

Claying removes the small bits of ingrained dirt without effecting the paint surface. They are the bits that make the paint feel like sandpaper.

You can get the same result with a mop and polish with, say, G3. But this would mean removing paint as well.

slight pulley wobble and had been lucky that only one of the three bolts was a little bit loose
and not the whole damper was on it´s way out.

Wise words to take note of. There is nothing to be gained on a track day to try and do some touring car save.

1st time I ever did Mallory that happened to someone in a freshly restored TR6. Unfortunately he didn't catch hit and hit the armco around 70 mph. 1 reason why I don't like that track anymore. I tend to weigh up excitement of the track vs the risk if I go off. Places like Donnington are quite low risk but hugely fun, Mallory is the exact opposite imo.

My two word reaction to that begins with O and ends with k and is six letters long.....poor guy, that looks awful. Makes me even more glad that I only ended up in the gravel trap.

Head first into the Armco, which raises another good point, fight the bugger all the way to the fence as a deflection is much better than a solid hit,,,
I agree it's better to choose the circuits that offer better run off as you never know.

the worst thing was, my friend and I could see it coming, he would not let my friend past in his herald (onloy assuming that being a TR6 he should be being overtaken by a herald!) and was no good in the corners at all, could see the back end all over the place as he seemed to have very little car control skills. he hit the left hand kerb which was still wet which sent the back end going and I can still hear the bang as he hit the wall.

He didnt seem too fussed about it at the time, popped it back on his trailer with his brand new range rover pulling it but I'm sure he was just putting on a brave face!

Thing is the minute your getting wobbly you have to ask yourself some questions, self analysis is so important,
Mans got to know his limits,, or your loaded enough to not care much!

20k resto,,,,, should have spent some money on the nut behind the wheel first.

For all the mods that's the bit that puts inputs through the thing.
Can't stand seeing that old school bumper so mangled,

Trouble is tracks sort of draw you in and ask you to go even quicker, it's a hard drug to resist even if it can end like that.
Rain for instance, much less grip and instead of being steady I tend to go Ice racer and throw it allover,,,,
I normally wake up in a cold sweat a few days later having realised just how close to the end that probably was,,,
I can't afford accidents anymore so it's bound to calm the speed.

My mate races a Mazda and if he don't come back with a dent he's not going fast enough? I'm getting good with a dolly and a mallet I can tell you, racing,,,, bust wheels, track control arms, panels, even severed brake lines from something flying about after a collision, almost every race!
Hey he ain't very good but don't tell him that, he can afford it and that's all that matters in the end.
