A beautiful piece of kit.
You did well assembling this.
This reminds me of metalwork lessons at school, happy days
Thanks, she runs well. There were days when I wish I'd just bought one ready to use, one of the chinese lathes etc….. I paid £250 for it and its cost me nearly £2k to complete…..but on German eBay, about 6000 Euros with half the accessories I have and non refurbished, I reckon I did ok……You did well assembling this.

I need this so I can turn a new crank pulley for the westfield's Rotrex supercharger to accept the poly v-belt. Could do with some easier jobs to practice on first.

Finished this off today, marks the end of a 5 years long project to build myself a tool room precision metalwork lathe, its a Weiler Matador. Very rare in the UK. Was completely stripped down to piece parts in multiple trays and boxes when I bought it with the bed re-ground and a lots of new parts. Fitted a 3 phase inverter within the body of the lathe and kept all of the original functionality while allowing the lathe to be driven from a 240 supply and still use the 2 speed 415 motor. I had a German manual with drawings to use to work out how to put it all back together again.
There have been good and bad days but the end result is well worth it, with all the accessories that came with the lathe it is a really nice piece of kit.

It is really satisfying to have the correct tools, ( and more so to have the time to use them).

Makes rebuilding a Chimaera look simple. There have been good and bad days but the end result is well worth it, with all the accessories that came with the lathe it is a really nice piece of kit.
Got caught out in a thunderstorm in "the pretty little village of Chilham" (as Clarkson said) on Monday and didn't have to use the wipers again until Friday. Switched on and they stuck vertically while on the M42. Got to Calke Abbey and opened the bonnet to see a little steam bubbling from the wiper motor with that awful electrical burning smell. Fortunately it didn't rain so had a look today.
Fuse was okay so undid the 2 small 7mm headed screws on the motor itself and pulled off the cover. The rotor still turned freely but obviously water been everywhere. Gave it all a big dose of WD40, reassembled, fingers crossed and switched on. It lives! Bit slow to return on a dry screen so parked the blades off the screen, set to fast speed and left it running for a while. All now working.

I keep playing with the lathe, need something to make rather than messing about with pieces of thick walled tube I find kicking about in my garage. Did someone on here once make some Estoral 5.0 litre wheel centres and sell them on here? Perhaps I could make some to sell?

Finished work and thought I'd give the car a treat.
I change the oil and the filter.
Put the road wheels back on,
Adjusted dampers to soft,
Checked a few nuts and bolts,
Washed her,
Went for a drive,
Put her to bed.
What a great way to end a week.

I wish I had'nt driven your car,,,,,,
I like it a bit too much,
Same as Chilli's yesterday,
He's right it don't alf sound good,
Seeing so many Tvr owners this weekend Peter,, their cars,,,,,
I didn't realise just how brilliant these these cars really are,,
What a sight to see all the road going cars on a rather wet Snetterton looking like something from a better place, really sting emotions, I could see it in the faces of the drivers,, so proud they were, marvellous stuff.

Really good Alun thanks only thing is I am not impressed with the standard springs and dampers anymore it bogs and squirms around when you light the touch paper and bobs around fast corners and it aint geo its better than it was though I was saying to Peter I am gob smacked with how much louder/boomier the exhaust note is (stock silencer) I now set of car alarms in small villages and that's not doing anything silly that needs dealing with long term IMO, Derek is in for a very pleasant surprise with his very similar spec cam in that new motor, I've got drive everywhere and takes off round to the limiter and in the lower 2 gears very easy I have an early shift light so no need to though really I can even short shift and it still ready to go when you grab the next gear the very light flywheel paid of here very responsive p/up done nearly 1k already which is not bad considering my work load at the moment How's it feel to be back on the road Simon
