As pretty as they are, £50 for an oil filler cap is a joke.
Ahh, but not as funny as having one of these:

I cut the orange plastic off mine and polished the aluminium underneath, looks good for a 15 minute job and all it cost was some metal polish.

Sussed out how I would remount my grill and not have any grief removing in the future.....

So - this plate mounts to the grill opening of the car - first I had to work out what I use as 'captive' bolts type of thing - came up with these....

But they were too long - there is not much room around the plate and the grill apeture. So out came the grinder and it made short work of this.....

The plate with all the speed fastenings attached and most of them trimmed...

But what could stop the clips from simply just swiveling when I tried to remove the grill in the future????? (as the araldited bolts did when I removed it last week! frown ) - so, this stuff is great and should do the trick.......

After some further work grind back some bolts that were too long, the plate is now mounted to the car.....

And the grill had its final coat of gloss black, but will stay off the car and not be fitted until my headlamp cowls go in....

Nice to hear of another TVR owner who shares your generosity of spirit, Alex. Looking forward to seeing you on the road in your TVR.

Sort of. I'm rebuilding the 5ltr with 3 spare pistons I got from V8D along with new ring and all new shells inc cam bearings and new core plugs. Then going to keep it as a spare, just in case.
Spent the day yesterday cleaning all the rods, pistons and main caps ready for the rebuild. The block has aready been cleaned.

Yes its a griff based thing, but I'm comfortable over here so thought I'd post up
Not so much what I've done in the garage, more what I've done to the garage really.
Been in my current single garage set up for the last 15 years, perfectly adequate when I moved in as it was just to house bike's, but since I've had the Griff, its been plainly a struggle.

So first thing off, demolition time.

Then lay some base, in sections due to size.

Then erect a 20ft by 18ft extra high garage, 7ft6 to the eves, highest I could go to.

Then paint the walls white to brighten things up.

Add some plastic sectional flooring, all clips together and the one I choose which is plasfloor, is a lot better value than other one's on the market.

Had electrics fitted and then fill it with car and bike stuff.

To say I'm chuffed is an understatement, so much more room now, though pretty sure ill fill it with crap soon enough.

I had a new garage made of the same construction ,in winter and warm damp days my chassis was soaking wet . I would insulate the roof with kingspan and the doors then build a frame without contact with the walls ,kingspan then ply board .

Its going to cost another £1000 but it will transform your garage .

Roof has anti condensation coating and previous garage which had same construction suffered no damp issues, plenty of air flow on this one, but will monitor and see how it is.
