I've taken a throw of the dice and ordered a full mirror and the bottom bit from them there TVR breakers delivered for £80 after spending a couple of hours looking at the swaps that people have done and sucking my teeth at Racetechs prices.

Those mk3 mirror conversions Central TVR do aren't Corrado mirrors are they?

Have just taken my car in for painting and having removed both mirrors its such a bodge and difficult job to do have decided to upgrade to mk3 items. The final decision was a repaired tripod on the RH unit and would have cost £30.00 to get a replacement part. Modification trim £60.00 a pair, new unpainted heated and electric operation VW units £72.00 a pair and future proofed because parts are readily available. Am doing the same with the headlights because a lens is cracked and the parts availability is difficult so prices are very high.

Will sell the originals, apart from a cracked lens and the broken tripod all else is in very good condition which should go a way to pay for the upgrades

So bought a Ford Focus ST170 4 stud (early cars) space-saver wheel and this time it fits. This space-saver is completely different from the ordinary Focus version which is steel. This is a lightweight alloy designed to fit over 300mm brakes. wink
Any chance of a pic?

Just wanted to say that Douglas Valley Breakers came up trumps with the mirror. Ordered it Sunday, turned up Monday and I now have a complete mirror and toadstool with glass, motor and wiring for less than it would have cost me for a new internal frame part delivered thumbup

Hi Rob

Going for the faired in type which was fitted to the mk3, want to keep the spirit of the Chimaera but get away from that '' is it a MG '' look

Bought the pods, sealed headlights and covers as a kit, cut out the pods and car is now in for painting, should get it back end Jan / beginning Feb. Also upgraded mirrors at the same time, just a new hood to order and wheels to send off to be polished and that's the outside sorted.

Headlight kit from Fibreon in West Midlands which is also where I got the adaptors for the VW mirrors.

The mirrors and headlights are quite vulnerable from damage and what should be an easy fix is just a pain, hence the upgrade while getting the paint done.

It must be Christmas. Not a lot going on at the moment.

I worked till 930 last night with a head torch fitting the roof sheets to this carport. The weather forecast for today was bad hence the late working!

Strange carport came from the house up the road and was FOC.

The jury is out on its aesthetic design. smile No comments please...........useful for a barbecue if the weather turns dodgy.

It is actually closely related to a TVR, it has a steel chassis and a fibreglass body (Cantilever beams and roof sheeting) I kid you not.

Nice one Peter! Probably a lot stronger than it looks, and a neat design.

Does it have motion-activated lights for night parking by the distaff side of the family, or have you bought a job lot of Ford Focus & Nissan Micra/Fiat Punto wing mirrors off EBay? laugh

Actually quite a good idea. A motion detector and some high up lighting will probably extend the life of mirrors and wings considerably!

It is very strong, the steel stanchions are bedded 1 m in the ground, concreted in and tarmaced around the bases.

The car is at the painters, just started to look at the hood which needs replacing, both the Central Panel and the back section which I want in dark blue.

Had some prices which all seem to be around the £380.00 plus VAT, but took the old hood to one and asked for supplied and fitted but was refused, saying they needed the car to do a proper job which was quoted £950.00 so looks like I am going to do it myself.

Any tips and advise very welcome

Finaly got round to getting the rebiuld done, thanks to Ron ar Insane Creations.. So much easier to set preload with adjustable pushrods.

Just waiting for the rocker covers to come back from the paint shop.
Gearbox has been reconditioned with the stronger fifth gear so should be ready to go with the Mcleod twin plate clutch and flywheel, which has been balanced as well.
New out riggers next on the list, these should be done by the end of Feb.
