You could tell I was suspecting my memory there!
I will be very interested to see them when they are fitted, and hear how comfortable you find them. Hopefully they will be exactly what you hoped.
I can add that I personally find most seats back-aching, but the Tuscan seats suit me perfectly.
I was very tempted to chop the Cerbera seats in for the Tuscan ones after sitting in yours, very comfortable,
If you do change your mind, Nigel (Hoofa) is looking for Cerbera seats......

He is, I had a second contact when I bought mine, I gave it to him, but they have been sold

Not a great pic, but here they are before they went for trimming in magnolia leather

Passenger seat belt replaced today. Was amazed how good a condition the existing bolts are given that its a 16 year old car smile They all seemed to be very well protected with sealant.

Next job is exhaust off for some bespoke NTEL "enhancements" wink and gearbox out so I can give the center chassis a jolly good clean and touch up biggrin

Lots more work to do over the next 3 months smile

Work on the refresh starts today, paint shop booked in on Friday so spent the day removing hood, rear bumper insert, rear light covers, door cards, mirrors, front grill, cowls, lens and reflectors. Parts for faired in lights and adaptor plates for VW door mirrors have arrived so planning to cut out for the headlight pods over the next couple of evenings so its all ready for the prep to start on Friday.

Also removed the reversing light switch for testing on wife's Boxster which have confirmed broke, again access is very limited, needed to buy a 19mm cranked spanner as nothing else in the toolbox would get on it, so pleased to say its not just TVR which are difficult.

Going to order a new hood this week, want to take my old hood to a specialist to be recovered, so I just have to refit it when the car comes back end of Jan. After the effort of removing door cards think I will order replacements as I don't fancy doing that job again when I replace the carpets and dash just before the summer.

Looks like I will have a few parts available, mirrors, reflectors and cowls, one lens cracked and one mirror tripod broken but the rest in good condition.

Will post some pictures as she goes in, during and after.

Hope its not raining Friday, about 1.5 miles hoon to the paint shop

A couple of pic's of progress, doors, boot lid and bonnet off, prep well under way and hoping for base coat to start next week. Tricky bits have been getting bonnet to align properly and getting the new mark 3 light pods to fit well. Paint has been delivered and new blue hood has been ordered, Targa Top has been delivered to the trimmers so this can be recovered just leaving the back section when painting is complete. This week will be dismantling my ne VW mirrors for painting and working out how to wire them into the existing switches, also need to fabricate a bracket to hold the new mk3 light pods in position for bonding into the car, it looks like I may need to cut an access hole into the wheel arch to get these installed.

The later cars had such an access panel as standard. Makes light bulb changing possible for normal people.

Andy, when fitting the light pods first off leave yourself a 2to3 mm return on the apetures ie don't cut the holes completely flush with the wing this will allow you to hopefully get the lenses reasonably flush with the wings also go a bit steady at the bottoms of the pod apertures (the tear drop area) as it's easy to have too much out of the area giving a large sikaflex joint
When your happy with a dry fit for the pods simply cut a bit of timber batten that will wedge between the light pod and the bottom of the front scuttle,it's a case then of degrease pod and hole apply good thick bead of sikaflex all the way round the pod get it in position and wedge it with the wood and leave for 24 hours, wipe excess sealer off with celly thinners
When you do the final sikaflex joint get some 3mm masking tape(it's a vinyl) and run this around the assembly both on the wing and on the light pod this will be easier than trying to do it with tape so you can aim for a constant size gap between the 2t tapes then it's easier to put normal masking tape to this thin lining tape. Gun the sikaflex in tape the excess of with your finger and smooth out with a finger dipped in celly thinners.obviously do this after final painting
You may have noticed you won't be able to access the headlight adjusters as they are the wrong way in the pods. Get some 5mm rivnuts screw them on for half the depth of the rivnut thread and get some 5mm cap head bolts, screw these into the rest of the rivnut thread put some loctite stud lock on both parts of the rivnut before assembly this will then allow you to adjust the lights from inside of the wing when required

Sorry if this is of no use/interest... If your looking to upgrade to cerbera (AP CP5200 4 bolt calipers) let me know as I have made a change so I have a set available, at this point can supply complete with cerbera standard uprights (unless they are taken for another project). Fair offers would make me part with the said items.

CL+5 front pads for those calipers too.

The discs which are 304x29 found themselves with a Dutch based PHer

Just PM if they are of interest.

A little background - I have taken the hood off the car for repainting and was hoping to take it to a specialist to be recovered but they all say that they need the car to make a proper job otherwise the tension would not be right.

I got some quotes - most were around £750 to over £1000 which was way over what I thought was reasonable.

Have found John Smith Trimmers in Swansea who has quoted nothing like the above so am having him supply and fit a new hood. I have been to see him, a one man band who operates from his garage at the back of his house, had just finished replacing a rear window in a Boxster and was recovering a pair of leather seats, nice guy and knowledgeable.

Have left the targa with him to recover, will collect this from him later and take the car in for the rear section when back on the road, it seems that he makes everything himself from scratch so will need the car for the day, hence getting the targa recovered now.

One point to make, he does not replace the rubbers, so I am getting these and fitting them myself, hopefully at the time of installing the hood, he has asked for a little assistance at the time to help stretch over the hoop.

So unable to recommend fully as work not complete yet, but will post with pic.

When I started out with the refurbishment of the outside, I decided on a budget of £3500 including full repaint, new hood in blue, faired in mk 3 lights and the later VW wing mirrors. Work is well under way and am on budget, it would have been very easy for this figure to be £6500 / £7000 which is way to much on a car owing me £10,500 but have had to put a lot of work into finding the right people, with the right skills to do a good job without the TVR surcharge.

I'd be interested in how you got on with your paint job, how full a respray it is/was/will be, what it cost and where you had it done.

I need to do a full respray on my car, including under bonnet and in all the door openings etc, and I want to go for a major colour change too.
I too think the circa £4000 that I see quoted a bit rich, but I do appreciate that a proper job costs loads of man hours.
However, I cannot equate that cost with a 98,000 mile car I thrash around track days and take to cross country drives.
The only certainty about the new paint job is that i will have at least six stone chips by the end of the first month following painting.
Not from track days, I hasten to add, but from road driving. I only do race track track days, and they are remarkably clean, far cleaner than the public roads.

Hi Anthony

The company who are repainting my car is owned and run by a fellow Triathlete and former TVR owner, they are a specialist in Weston-Super-Mare my home town who do a lot of bi-spoke work, including a lot of motor cycle projects. They have painted tin cars, repairs and wheel refurbishments for me in the past and have been excellent, this is the first TVR for them.

It is a same colour repaint for me, see the pics further up the thread of progression. I have removed hood, mirrors, lights inserts and cut the pods for the faired in lights myself, and will refit these parts upon the painting being complete. Have done this because of the responsibility of breaking bits on assembly and re-assembly as they are tricky, old and prone to problems and allowed the company to do what they are good at.

Totally agree with you regarding costs, and do not have a problem with some of the prices being over £4000, probably worth every penny for a top job, but my car like yours is not a garage queen and drive it like a stabbed rat, so it will get marked in the usual places. This does not mean that I will except a second rate job and will report back with pics when completed.

As a matter of interest, when the outside is complete I will replace parts of the interior, the veneer dash is showing signs of splitting and they have shown me marbling technique which is like transfer. It is very difficult to tell it is not real wood, and offers a huge range in textures and finishes at a good price.

I stripped and prepped mine, it is a lot of work especially for a colour change but I have gone away from metallic and used a solid colour, so much easier to touch up
2 pack paint and sundries came to 500 and the guy who did it charged 1200 if you have the time and skills this is a cheap way to go
The new hood is a mohair item manufactured by one of the biggest mainstream suppliers (they make foe some of the high street names) and being installed at my home workshop including the targa for 750which I didn't think was too bad
