Fitted a new wing mirror. Cut my arm to shreds removing the door card, then became confused. Googled it, shouted many naughty words, swapped the mirrors over and then refitted the door card. Assumption is the mother of all fkups hehe

Yup....mirror change just requires the speaker out for access, and then the plugs removing from the cables that run down from the mirrors, so that you can pull the wires out when you take the mirror off.

Assumptions are such fun......
Helped my son in law this morning to change over the door on his new fridge to open the other way. Let him do all the work while I held things and kept the grandkids (7&4) at bay. Held the door while he bolted it back on and added the front decor panel.......at which point he realised that all the bottle trays on the inside of the door were upside down.....!!!!!
It only took 10 minutes working together to unbolt it all and hang the door the right way up. Haven't told his wife, my daughter........yet!

So, decided to replace the blown exhaust manifold gaskets. How hard can it be? confused

1. I did this using a trolley jack outside my house - error. rolleyes
2. Removing the large clamps at the Y piece and the manifolds sprung apart - thats going to be a problem later. curse
3. No room to drop the exhaust on the passenger side so very limited room for a long skinny arm. If you're like Popeye, no chance.
4. Starter motor terminal too tight to risk breaking it so limited room to access rear lower bolt.
5. Wrapped manifolds.
6. Cleaned and painted chassis rails with Rustoleum.
7. Fitted manifolds (ACT Stainless) with new steel sandwich type gaskets.

The gap...

8. After 90 minutes fighting to fit clamps back on, gave up and had a tantrum. ragefuriousmadcurse
9. Slept on it and had an idea to use a strap wrench to pull the manifolds together. idea
10. An hour later all fitted back on. Started the engine and lovely and quiet. cloud9

Next time, if there is a next time, it is definitely going on a ramp. yes

Hiya

A bit further up have been logging my repaint project which has just finished.

Here are a couple of pic's

Total body repaint in original colour Antique Turquoise Starmist, mk3 faired in headlights and mk3 VW wing mirrors. Replacement hood in dark blue. Wheels repainted with a bit more sparkle.

Phase 2 will be replacement carpets in Dark blue with light grey binding. Dash, seats are all ok but will change all rubbers. Phase 3 - replace dash as first crack starting to appear - have been looking at hydro graphics, one of the guys who repainted my car does a lot of motorcycle work and has shown me some very impressive ideas.

Cant wait for the Summer

Not quite as blingy as Mac's yet but you're getting there. It would match my stainless steel front grille I think. Is yours from Holland?

Are you happy with the hood as this is something I need to seriously consider having done? Sheel (Rich) had his done for around £750 and was very happy with the result and the fitter came to him.

Hiya, hood is ok - took it to Swansea which was a bit of a pain especially as I dropped the old hood to him to make the new one so had to drive with no hood the 70 miles to get it fitted. Needs a bit of adjustment which I have not got around to do but generally reasonable job. I took the stance that I only require a hood when getting caught out so not that fussed, and for less than £300.00 very happy.

Simon, hows the fully sequential injection project progressing mate?

This is a project of great interest to me, in theory the benefits may only be small (idle to 2,000rpm?) but the way I see it this alone could significantly contribute towards making the car much nicer to drive ears

The new closed loop idle/throttle management strategy the Lloyd boys gave me only works during low RPM driving but boy does it make the car a more relaxed and enjoyable drive, a TVR Chimaera will always be (and should always be) a gruff beast of a thing, but adding a little refinement doesn't mean this character will be spoilt.

I have a feeling fully sequential injection could actually prove to offer driving pleasure improvements and refinement well beyond what the facts and figures suggest, as such I'd be very grateful if you keep us all updated on your very interesting project.

Thanks, Dave.
