Your in the same county as me !!!!!. How many miles round trip is that.

The only plus side of probably living in Downham or swaffham is that your close to Matt's place?
West Norfolk is superb. Great coast road, superb B roads, just a great place to live.
I used to ride my horses in Thetford Forest for miles when I lived there, and went on many a PH run with the active local crowd. Plus an annual run with Ferraris and Lambos.
Bonus is Mat works there. Still go to him even though I now live 80 miles away.

With all the talk about clunky diffs, remembered I had not changed the diff oil. The drain plug was surrounded by black silicone sealant- not a good sign - and it was a bit wet. Searched around to find the right socket. Needn't have bothered. The plug was finger tight eek
Unscrewed it and lots of plumber's mate tape on it - beginning to panic now. Drained it all off, spent 5 mins removing the sealant and then refitted the plug and tightened properly. Refilled and all ok. yes
Out of curiosity looked through the history file and a TVR dealer last did it.....rolleyes

Did nothing on my car yesterday either.

I got given an outdoor table tennis table in a sorry state so stripped it down, prepared it and painted it in black Hammerite.

All assembled, now just need someone to play with! wink

I'd offer, but wiff waff in a 15 mph wind requires more skill than I possess. hehe

Your right about the norfolk coast roads Anthony the swampy TVRCC members took us out on a coastal run finishing with a great meal last year.

Unfortunately the roads in Surrey are far too busy with traffic especially cyclists, these are the worse roads by far frown. I miss Lincolnshire roads smile

Heater fan has stopped for the fourth time.

First time I bypassed the burnt out wiring myself.
Second time Mat Smith sent the control box off to Paul Smith for repair.
Third time we swapped the control box to no avail, Mat fixed the footwell wiring.
Fourth time the wiring seems ok, the fuse is ok, I am at a loss.

Suggestions?

Frustrating day today

Had a do few jobs to do for MOT next week, but got side tracked trying to get the Rev counter working again, which has never worked since fitting the coil packs. Rewired the tach fix module, to the tacho, but still didn't work. Then after testing the switched live feed to the module, the fuel pump wouldn't prime.

Spend ages checking fuses, testing relays, tracing back the wiring and narrowed it down to the ECU ground from the fuel pump relay (pump primed With relay pin grounded) at this point the laptop wouldn't communicate with the ECU, After power cycling the ECU, managed to connect the laptop, but got a bunch of config errors.

At this point I was fearing a pn ECU problem, so left the battery disconnected and took the dog for a walk. Came back, reconnected the battery and the car started first time! Then rewired the tach fix model to an alternative switched live under the dash, and the tacho sprung to life!

Frustrating day and still, need to do the MOT jobs but at least managed to achieve something,

Also managed to rearrange the garage a bit to get both cars in, with a bit more space to work on them.

Have you tried a direct feed and earth to the fan in case the motor is suspect? If it works then the wiring needs checking, maybe the earth?

No - I will work out where to put the live feed and give it a try. Thanks for the thought.
Having a good day with electrics so far. Electric fencing not working, found the break and fixed it. woohoo

If the fan motor is OK maybe worth checking the switch, not unknown for those to fail.

Another good thought, but I have a switch bypass cable, wired in for me when the second failure occurred so that I could turn the fan on while the box and switch were away with Paul Smith. Tried the bypass - nowt.
Same result actually as number three failure, when Mat traced the fault to a connector located behind the carpet to the left of the passenger's left foot.

I will have a gander at the bible and try to work out:

a) where the bloody fan is
b) where it's power supply runs within the car

as a direct live feed to the fan seems the logical next step.

Thank God summer is finally arriving - I spend more time in summer trying to cool down the cockpit than heat it up.
Next planned outing is a track day at Lotus Cars at Hethel next Sunday. Forecast is currently for 20 degrees and sunny, so i will be taking the number plate off to improve airflow, as the temp gauge will be around 90 degrees the entire time I am running on track (at 9 mpg). No, don't panic, that's what they all do if driven flat out for 15-20 minutes at a time. It never overheats, just runs nice and hot, so the V8 heater requires no power assistance!

The fan is behind a panel on the left hand side of the passenger footwear it slides out in the direction of the tunnel once the rivets and sealant have been removed. My fan was seized and squirt of lubricant on the bearings sorted it out. When you remove the carpet to get to the panel you will see the fan supply and you can trace it back to the connector and apply 12v to test.

I assembled this in the garaged last night.

Designed in England and made in China for Automotech. £180 + VAT!

A must if you are going to replace your bushes.

As my garage loosely resembles this (well white walls and very similar floor) Ive decided to purchase a disco periscope ball which arrived today and looks great. I will be altering the workbench at the back to be more kitchen worktop tike I think.

Massive thanks for the inspirations.
