Repaired the rattling drivers window this afternoon, took the door panel off and put the glass rubber back in the channel but I had a bit of a senior moment putting it back together I just couldn't get my arm though to the furthest bolt after far to long trying to work out how I got it off so easily I realised that the window was wound down.

So a serious block repair and engine re fresh, other than your time I bet this cost less than 2k easy smile
How's the new clutch,
Did that split result from vibration Peter or do you have no idea?
Probably cost about £1200 parts only .

Of course, the twin plate clutch on top, about another £500 .

Apparently these blocks do have the occasional split. No apparent reason. But this is what causes the leaking liners as it is the water jacket that splits behind the liner.

Running in no more than about 4K at the mo. Torque for some reason from about 2 1/2 thousand RPM seems huge which is strange.

I took the block to Chesman engineering, they did all the work including removing the liner, taking the block to a specialist welder, fitting the liner, boring it to size and honing the bores all within one day while I waited .

M248 is torque cam for long stroke engine.. wink

I will go straigt from M256. If that cam is not enought, next will be Real Steel 266? or some custom made, maybe +260.. Roller setup..
Still street car engine..

http://www.kentcams.com/product-details/237/Camsha...

And SHE is running again with cometic head gasket´s.. Have to re torque heads because they are leaking oil middle of the block. Hope for best next start up..

That is interesting, I didn't want any more torque!

If it makes more torque and less bhp I will be genuinely pissed off!

My ex cam is M238, and +500Nm torque curve start at +2000rpm. Max hp approx 5500rpm. And my engine is only 5.2l 90mm stroke.

I also want more top end, i have got too mutch low down torque. So that´s why i go for M256 and more bigger throat´s..

Usually long stroke/big engine is forgiving.. Also ITB`s will help, with plenum you might have some small proplem if use silly race cam..

Where did you buy your cam, or who design it?

Hope all goes as planned on the rollers Peter.

I thought these top hat liners somehow sealed top and bottom to prevent water leaks from a porous or cracked block.

From Kent cams but V8D suggested as an improvement on the mechanical 404 cam that I previously had.

Actual spec has been changed from 107 to an lca of 110 degrees for improved road maners.

That's what Chesmans said.

They said mine wasn't sealed too well at the bottom of the liners. Also said that the block wasn't one of theirs wink

Out with the old

Bath time

In with the new smile

And once my shims get delivered:

Cam is in but have checked the end float with the new retaining plate bolted in and it's binding. So some shims on order. Was hoping to get them today but alas, no frown Roll on Monday.

Yep, strange results, possibly. 372 bhp 440 torques on Joolzs conservative rollers.

The lca was stretched to 110 degrees when ground for better road manners.

It does behave pretty well on the road with absolute minimal shunting if you could call it that.

Silly iPad chops off the top of the graph.
