Crankshaft pulley needed please
Discussion
Thanks to you both.
I have a wee confession. Although I have a Chim this pulley if for a Rover P5B but its fitted with a later Chim block (an ehgine bulit by Rob at V8 Dev about 7 years ago).
The engine has a vibration between 1700 and 2200 revs. Definitely engine/box as its engine speed related not road speed.
I've tried turning the flex plate on the autobox through 90 deg as I'm told that can produce a similar vibration but that hasn't cured it.
I have been reliably informed that although the front pulleys/dampers look the same and will fit that they should not be interchanged. I have only just discovered this so would like to try another pulley.
HOWEVER, I realised today that the bolt on part that carries the belt is different since P5B uses a single old fashioned fan belt whereas the later Chim one uses the wide belt.
So, Dave, if I could pop over and have a look at the various options (and better still if you can point out the differences) I would be grateful.
Any other thoughts will be appreciated be appreciated but bearing in mind this the vibration is DEFINITELY engine not road speed related and the vibration is worse under load.

The original TVR offering used balance weights behind the front pulley and holes in the flywheel to correct the out of balance crank. Because of that it is important that the original pulley is refitted. When my crank snapped some years ago it was I suspect contributed to by a TVR “ specialist “ refitting the wrong pulley. A number stamped on the crank indicates to those who know what balance weights are required.
Having said that I would suspect an engine built by V8d would be rather better than the original offering and internally balanced so the external weights are not required. Fitting a pulley with them to a properly balanced engine would almost certainly cause vibration.

Not entirely.
I have stripped the engine twice and had the components dynamically balanced and rebuilt it. It still vibrated at exactly the same revs.
I ran it a few times and on one start up the vibration was much reduced. Still there but very feint. I have no idea why. I haven't strated it since die to the presuures of life (house move/job change etc)
Keep meaning to take the old banger for a run. Maybe I will try this week.

Ahh. The latest opinion is it may be something like injectors, i.e a misfire causing imbalance and therefore vibration. Advised to remove each injector to check for change in vibration, when it doesn't change, you have the culprit!
And so your journey of "Ahh! Engine vibrations, notoriously difficult to find sir. Have you tried ..." begins.Try www.vibrationfree.co uk Sorted out a problem I had with a highly modified Sunbeam Tiger

hmmm i wonder if they can balance a new pulley/harmonic balancer!? Emailed them...Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
