Its all good fun.
Cheers Mac, sharing ones efforts with boys who obviously know their cars is reward enough.
I've decided to do as much of the work as possible, rub down ARB's and lower wishbones tomorrow ready for painting.
I still have a pile of bits needing restoration but its getting smaller as the days fly by.
I'm often really restless at this time of year, I grew up around people building stuff for the race season and it all sort of stopped in my late twenties but this weird feeling that I should be preparing some machine or other at this time of year has never left me so this is a way to scratch that itch, its hard work but doesn't feel like it.
I'm going to post a pic of all the tools I've used so far, very few!
Anyone can do it.
Looking great, just keep at it. Walk away for a week and it'll turn into a month! Just watch how much paint you put on to the inside of the suspension mounting brackets. Gave mine a couple of good coats and the extra few millimetres of thickness meant I had to sand all the paint off again to get the suspension arms back in. Very annoying.
Cheers Quattro, I cracked today and took stuff to the powdercoaters, I ran out of steam!
Sunny day so another coat of paint on chassis and then I seemed to spend far to much time looking at it,Im worn out by polishing exhausts that will instantly brown off again, daft but it will look nice for a photo shoot!
I now have a delay of at least a wk before rack and bits get worked on so I'll move along chassis bottom rails. I think my car leaked oil for years as from the gearbox backwards it looks new,,,,,, well sort of!
I'm also going to order some new wishbones next wk so I might aswell fiddle with a few other jobs inside the car.
I want to leave the paint as long as possible before re assembly, I've applied 5 coats, I'm bound to knock some off but I'll be applying plenty of grease as I re assemble.

I used a 4.5 in grinder with a rust removing disk then a softer disc then various drill attachments then good old wet and dry to 2000 smooth grit, then Solvol, my best friend. It takes bloody hours but the weather being inclement has given me the chance to get them done.
The manifolds I've been very gentle and could get a better finish but I quite like the used look, lol
It does get brain numbing but its well worth it and far more exciting when putting it all back together.
Fantastic alun. Can't wait to see the finished product. The manifolds I've been very gentle and could get a better finish but I quite like the used look, lol

Thanks Mark, I can't wait either, I'll need the rest!
Mark did you say you'd made alley pulley wheels, the utmost respect,,,,,,,can you spend another wk making me some? Lol
I've got this lovely looking engine and couldn't stand looking at the chassis, now I sit and look through the wheel arch with satisfaction that its safe and sound and so clean. Mega.
The chassis worries had me cursing every bump, now bring the bds on.
I'll have to admit I like going to shows with loads of fantastic cars, I just want to be able to showcase a cared for Tvr and open the bonnet with pride. It means a lot when people fall for it and ask questions.
I've decided trackdays are not for this car and I admire cars that are really well looked after so as I've gone this far I might aswell make it my homage to my E type dream and slowly get right through it.
Right bed time, I'm going to get up early watch f1 pract 3 then Quali, then spend another day on my back degreasing and preparing the underbelly. Yuck.
TTFN lol

I'm very lucky Trevor, caught it in time. A week ago I thought there'd be lots of welding going on so I'm really pleased and encouraged to get on.
I got some clear lacquer today and a quality brush, when its all done I'll do a gentle rub down then a final coat allover and finally lacquer the lot. My plan is,it will be like rubber!!???!
