Yes it's true I just polished them! Thanks for the comments gents, the camera flatters it somewhat!

I'm never starting it up, just look at it forever more,
It does take a heck of a lot of time to do but I'm so glad I've done it, the reward far out ways the hardship of grovelling about on concrete. The chassis is pretty rough really but it's 100% better than it was.

The manifolds, exhaust etc were the easiest to do, just a grinder with buffing tools and about 20 hours,
Wet and dry and Solvol and bobs your uncle.

Brett, sos mate, hey but just think how much better your car will be. There's no denying the effort required but all good things are worth working hard for!

A supercar can't look naff under the Hood.
I'm sort of turning it into a brand new car, a few more years yet but the front half is almost there.

It's definitely rewarding I think, and it can be relaxing. Baby wipes seem to clean anything ha.
Slow progress though isn't it, especially when replacing every but/bolt I need to undo because they are all rusted

It's getting the old parts apart that takes most of your time. It's now much faster to work on as things just undo rather than give you fraught moments.
I ordered a complete bolt kit and I just love the brand new feel of it all.
I've now got an issue with two wishbone bushes that won't press out! Pain in the ass!
For various reasons its taken much longer to re assemble as I ordered stuff as I went along.
I want the suspension and brakes connected up before filling it with liquids and firing her up, I've also wanted to take plenty of time so I can remember it all well. It's just a hobby.
It's either do it to the Tvr or buy an old English motorbike. Now my car starts to feel classic so it takes on another dimension.

You can't have much more fun tarting up a Tvr than tinkering with a tart!
So today collected lower wishbones, 1 x with new bushes 1x without new bushes, the chaps press wouldn't budge them, another mate has a 60 tonne press? We'll see?

Sprayed new front upper wishbones and 1x lower wishbone ( on top of new powder coating ) nice chunky layer on top and into the tight area's, in white.

Split lower ball joints from hubs. I think there perfectly ok but while it's all apart it seems daft not to change them.

I'm just about to get underneath the car and touch up the chassis where I've scratched or chipped the paint and I'll be finished with my paint brush,,,,,, nearly!

Because you have lots of time in between waiting for things to dry or parts to arrive, I used that time to polish stuff.
If I'd actually got everything at once, it wouldn't take long to re build. I should have known once I'd started I wouldn't be happy putting old suff back on.
For wks I've been saying there's nothing wrong with the ball joints etc but as soon as I start looking at it my heart says, do the right thing and spend some more dollor! I just hope it's worth it and I notice the difference when on the road.

Anyway I'm not vain but here's another pic just for the hell of it. It's like old bikes, beautiful inn a brutish way.

I might just do that Quinny.
I'm all geared up to put it back together then decide to replace ball joints! Another few days wait ensues,,,, I quite like the childish anticipation, then like the greatest sweets a hose or bracket or wishbone turns up, it's not something I will be doing very often so I might as well get it right and then bloody STOP!
As usual I've ended up spending more but she will be like new.

I snapped loads of blades trying to get mine out and it wouldn't press out in the vice. Starting burning it out but thought against that so I just popped it to a local machine place and they pressed it out straight away.

Hoses are Powers, glossy looking. Can I get a chrome cap?
Quinny when I was much younger I carted a massive vice from home to home thinking id set it up one day, eventually left it somewhere and now curse myself!
Drop it,,,,,, you've got to pick it up to do that!
I'm likely to let my mate have a go at it first.
Question,
So how do you press one back in,,,, the same way I assume, using the vice?
I'm just looking at my newly painted wishbones and smiling greatly.
Love it, have it.

Yeah, I pressed mine back in using a vice. Use sockets/pipe on each end again so as not to squish the ends of the bush, I tried to use the press at work but the shape of the wishbones made it impossible to push down straight on the bearing so ended using a vice anyway.

That's it then, I'm off down my mates garage first chance I get.
A vice is a hell of a tool.

So I'm two wishbone bushes and some ball joints away from rebuilding the bugger.
I've been laid up for the last two wks, tooth removed and dam infection knocked me for six.
Frustrated, it's about time it was done.
It's so much fun I don't want it to stop but I have other things to do this summer so I'll compromise a little,,,, but not much!
I might well get that Chrome cap also, cheers Brett.

Hi chaps, Quinny that vid came in real handy, removed old bushes from lower W bone and replaced for new, using vice technique, no worries.
Painted said Wishbone.
Painted Hub carriers and upper and lower ball joints?!?! There new but rust very quickly!
Also painted track control arms and rod ends.

Can't find any other reasons not to re assemble the steering and suspension now so if the weather holds I've got a couple of days spare to crack on. I can see and end to it now.
