Get yourself to Burghley House near Stamford on the 13th April and have a listen to 600 odd TVRs on the day. Pick your favourites and ask the owners.

Simples smile
I live 2 minutes from Burghley house so that's ideal! Where do i find details?

A good start here.

TVR Season Opener - 2014 Burghley House

There are several posts regarding convoys up to Burghley in the various TVR forums.
It's not all RV8 based Chimaeras and Griffiths of course, but that will just allow you to experience how much better our cars sound then 'theirs' biggrin
Donning flame proof clothing now!

Ideal I will be there and will also go on the Rutland Rumble on the Saturday... owning a TVR appears to be a lot more fun than an Audi!

I have a 'tinkered with' rear box - there are certainly some weld marks that show there has been some alteration of the rear box but as it has been done prior to my ownership some 3 years ago, something has been changed - too quiet for a full sleeving, but louder than stock.....

....now has decatted manifolds and Clive's bootiful Y piece....sounds like this.....

The over run is simply georgous..(to my ears anyways!!)

TVRCC Warwickshire and West Midlands Region smile I believe the plan is to park as a region again, so look for a mixed group of cars that are not parked in the model specific groups. Mine is a Starmist Green 400 on an L plate.

Have a look at this thread, there are a few different vids. I posted one about halfway down the first page http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Didn't manage to listen to many sadly so still undecided! I had a quick go in one with pre cats out and Clive Y piece and i'm not sure its loud enough for me! Is sleeving a standard exhaust the loudest under throttle and the method that creates the most pops and bangs? There were a few cars on the drive on Saturday that sounded awesome when accelerating away - i want that!

Haha sorry QBee! And thank you for taking me for a quick run, shame i didn't manage to find you during the drive as would've been good to hear it on the move a bit more.

It was a nice sound but then i think i need to go through the bonkers loud phase perhaps to appreciate the subtlety of a pre cat out Clive F set up in the future. Fernhursts are suggesting the straight piped (same as sleeved?) option and leaving the pre-cats in.... what's the most aggressive one any of you have heard?

Taking out the pre cats has other benefits other than noise.

It will make the car slightly more powerful, help it exhaust easier and keep underbonnet temps down.

Sleeving won't do that (at least I don think it does the first one but happy to be contradicted).

Good luck but I think pre cats out is the no brainier, then a choice of decat Y or Sleeving. I went for the Y and haven't regretted it one bit.

I've been told that pre cats out is a no brainer but Fernhurst are saying to leave them in to begin (and highlight possible MOT issue, i know there are ways round that). Does leaving pre cats n not help alleviate teh tug boat/tractor sound at idle?

Removing the pre-cats only gives a little bit of noise increase, but it removes 2 very big restrictions in the exhaust that are very close the engine, by removing them you can get rid of the gasses which in turn lowers the engine bay temps and allows the engine to rev a little smoother/faster and they do nothing positive when the engine is warm!. If you are unsure I would, remove the pre-cats, Clives 'y' piece and see how you get on honing around and long journeys. Then if you still think its not enough then sleeve or buy a sleeved system, so if it is too loud for you, you can swap it back fairly easily.
Hope this has helped

Pre cats are not required to pass an MoT as the MOT is done on a hot engine when the main cat in the Y is up to temperature.

Good luck.
