Hi all, first time post so be gentle, just bought my first chimaera on Saturday and well pleased, drove it from Coventry where I picked it up from to fleet in Hampshire with no problems at all, tbh was expecting to breakdown or something but now have the faith in it, 124 miles and only used 4 gallons of fuel, (31mpg) excellent I though but did drive it like a pussy as it was the first time I had driven one, can anyone tell me what I need to look out for problem wise.

Had mine for 6 years and all it asked for was a new starter. If looked after, they are far more reliable than we give them credit. Had 4 Volvos in that time all died.

I'm about to step into the speed six, and been worries to death by the posts in here....

Dom at Power even says te speed six is far more reliable than we think....

Fingers crossed and enjoy.

Thanks will do, the only thing I'm not happy with is the handbrake as pretty useless

Try applying the handbrake with your foot on the brake (the pedal, not the handle!!). You should be able to get three clicks that way. Foot on brake also makes releasing it easier.

Don't fold down the rear screen with the window cold - it may crack. A bath towel rolled in a sausage shape and applied to the rear of the screen as you fold it down will help, as will easing the creases out as you go.. Don't be frightened of leaving the targa hoop up at speed. I have done 140 with mine up.

Fill the fuel tank a little slower than you would your Eurobox, or you could get blowback and loss of fuel onto the road.

Never put your keys down on the floor of the boot while loading.....

Drive the car at least once a week all year round for best reliability.

Before too long find out where the 100 amp fuse lives and get a spare, ideally a midi fuse. It will blow eventually.....

Let the engine warm up before you show off at full throttle to your assembled friends.

Take it to a TVR expert and invest £100 in a full geo (4 wheel alignment) - a proper one is the best investment you can make in the car's handling and your fun.

Have fun!

Milky shame on you biggrin

It's the last click that matters. The first two are just for show, and the last one usually (and should) require a bit of effort.
If it won't hold on a gentle slope from rolling backwards it requires adjusting.
That said, I always park it in gear, and Milky400 would be right there; I never trust the handbrake on it's own.

As to QBee's advice regarding filling; if your filler hose and metal neck are properly aligned, you should be able to get the pump nozzle fully into the filler neck and fill up like any other car.
Mine was crap for years until I was forced to have a look at it, and discovered that it had not been properly aligned, explaining why I had never been able to fill at 'full speed'.
Mine works a treat now, though getting the nozzle in exactly the right position to fully insert remains a bit of a fiddle occasionally.
