Whilst my car's been up on axle stands for the last 4 months (I know, I know) I've mostly kept the battery plugged into my accumate charger / conditioner & all has been well. Went to check last night and battery completely dead, no power at ignition and no charge getting to battery. I haven't disconnected the terminals yet but wondered if these symptoms were typical of a blown fuse or relay before I start pulling things apart. Otherwise I'm assuming a big drain somewhere - I bloody hate electrics ! Any tips, as ever much appreciated.

What battery do you have? Is it a 'normal' type or has it been changed for an AGM/GEL?

I think it's a normal wet type, I'll check later. It's only about 3 years old I think (fitted by previous owner) and has been faultless to date. If I'd left it off the accumate for a week or so in the past it fully recharged in less than 30 minutes once hooked back up, and never had any starting issues until now !).

Need to plug the accumate directly onto the battery terminals. If it wont even recognise the battery it is dead.

I have managed to resurrect a ded battery by jump starting the vehicle off a good battery and then giving it a good drive. After this the accumate recognised the battery and topped up the charge.
That said the writing may be on the wall for the battery. In my exampole the battery went completely a few months later.

Get a voltmeter on the battery and see how much voltage it puts out. I'd say that if it doesn't even light the dash up a little then there's a broken cable, duff connection or fuse somewhere.

Even down to 11V ish, the battery should be recoverable, but in my experience if it falls to 10V and below, it means a cell has gone completely so a new battery is needed.

How old is your accumate Richard? Mine just stopped working one day, have you another charger you can try?

Thanks again for all suggestions.

My accumate is 15 months old and suspect ok, however if it is faulty could it have sucked all the juice from the battery whilst connected ? I'm not even getting a flicker from any lights - dashboard or otherwise.

I'll get back in the garage later and remove battery for proper checks.

Not sure if it can drain your battery,I returned to mine after not checking it for some time, accumate showed a green light and the battery was as dead as a dodo. It may have drained itself over time so not sure if the accumate drained it or it not
