Without starting the big, big debate on what's best I would like to know what alternatives there are to the usual suspects.

I'm looking for a set that can be used for road and with a leaning to good handling on track.

They will run Eibach springs, have adjustable spring seats and be at least one way adjustable for damping.

We know about GAZ and Nitron but is there a tried and tested sensibly priced alternative?

I don`t know why the Bilsteins do not come with adjustable damping because i like the idea of having only three height settings and they are monos ..

Why not be the first and try these

I think what you really want is different damper+springs for road & track... Most problems seem to be about finding a compromise.

& TBH whatever folks rave about any damper it is only ever going to have a limited range of operation (unless an electronic active suspension I guess) and you have to live within those limits?

Have you considered the Gaz TA because they are infinitely adjustable in comparison to the various Monotube offerings and give independent bump and rebound adjustment.

Bilstiens do come with adjustable damping, alloy bodied & variable platform. I have had a set on my Griff for 12 years now (& they cost £40/corner to be rebuilt).
Rumour has it that Nitron use Bilstein valves anyway.

Have a look on Absolutely Shocks.com
They are called DA on there which will be changed.
400lb of rebound adjustment and 200lb of bump which gives a massive adjustment range.

They are priced a little less then Monos.

Are you saying that these are quite suitable for track days/ road use?

Are they better then the Monos in that respect?

You really can have the car like your favourite armchair or hardcore track on 375/450 springs

With options for single and double adjustable twin tube shocks and single adjustable monotube shocks GAZ are offering options for everybody but a chat on usage of car with me is probably a good idea

Why is it i love my Nitrons even with 250/325 springs ? I had three other types which you all know about and i hated them .

Just hope they have better offerings !
