yep, used rob for my first TVR and chuffed with his service. Bought my Chimaera off James Agger, who I would also highly regard.

Possibly not, but all I know is that before I drove a tvr last week, I was happy with my elan, now, it feels a bit eurobox sports car and sounds it too. So yes, my life, bank account and thoughts of other conversation topics have been ruined. But hey, back to that sound...as I read somewhere, noisier than my girlfriend after a night on the stellas.

That looks a real beauty. Saw two this am but too pricey, going to S. Wales on Sat to see another, if he wont give me a decent part ex for my elan, I'll sell privately and get back to you. Thanks, looks like you've cherished it.

Dorin Centon.
You aren't allowed to buy anymore cars. Your car buying quota for the year finished a long time ago.

(PS: Bring the Escort this way so I can have a butchers)

I love Elans and may have been interested in a p/x but tried driving one once and couldnt get my knees below the top of the dashboard

.....almost true......wasn't quite "daily"....

Actually, what I meant was that I expected you to go into "full-on" sales mode......

But you didn't.....

btw I did pass on your details to my m8 but he is holding off buying until the Spring, so no news there sorry.

A few tips, as that is what you were after...

Check chassis for corrosion.
Check wishbones for corrosion.
The wishbone bushes where they mount to the chassis suffer from deteriation, might feel vague through steering.
Diff bushes wear, normally a dull clunk heard when changing gear.
Most gearboxes can feel a little stiff - nothing to worry about.
Always select fifth before reverse to stop gears clunking.
In the dark the rev-counter will be brighter than the speedo.
A milky rear screen can more often than not be restored with Renovo plastic window cleaner - but a good bargaining point (£150 to replace)
Check all electrics.
Check cooling - what temp the fans cut in when standing.

Questions....

History - Full?
When was the roof last weatherproofed?
When was it last serviced, and who by?
Can I see the history book and receipts if poss?
When was it last waxoyled?
Where does it leak? (they don't all leak but you are more likely to get an honest response from this question)
Is it garaged?

For starters!
