Sorry mate not read it properly - have you had the geo set up properly? I drove 100 miles to TrackVroad to get mine done and it made a huge difference, tramlining a thing of the past.

That may be on the cards i think. I am considering dropping the front tyre width down to 205s first to see if it improves (also the steering is very heavy now with the 225s on). Got a trackday soon so want to get it sorted or at least improvedthumbup
What size tyres are you running on your estorils?

Madmarsie, If you want to try different tyre widths and makes on your car, you are welcome to come and fit my wheels and tyres on your car and take them for a drive. Saves buying to try. I too have 324mm disks, but have used 17 inch wheels. Point is you know they will fit on your car.

For track tyres I have a set of Toyo R888 Tyres on SP12 rims. Fronts are 17 inch wheels, 7.5J, standard TVR offset, with 215/45 17 tyres. Rears are 18 inch wheels, 8J, again standard offset, with 235/40 18 Tyres.

I also have a set of Federal 595 RS-R Tyres on Ford fit non-TVR wheels, with 5mm spacers. Just done a track day today on them. Tyres are 215 all round. Handling wonderful IMHO. I was as quick around Cadwell Park as Grahamn's 4.5 Cerbera.

Finally I have some standard road tyres on 17 inch wheels. 215/45 17 fronts, 235/45 17 rears.

I have not suffered tram lining on any tyres. All my sets behave nicely, car is a joy to drive. I live just off the A1 at Newark, about 45-60 minutes from you.

Thanks Anthony, i may take you up on that. Is your car power steering?. Need to get to the bottom of why mine is such hard work. May be perfect at Blyton where its nice and smooth but the condition of the roads around here mean it exhausting to drive for more than about half an hour at a time

Yes, mine does have power steering. But it felt awfully heavy when I had a fluid leak at the U bend near the PS pump and the fluid level got low. I assume you have checked yours if you have PS?

If you want to invest a little money in fuel, you are welcome to take my various sets for a drive around the country lanes, town streets and main roads to your heart's content and establish what is making your steering heavy. I have heard that 225s can feel heavy on non-PAS cars. We have some decent weather coming.....

Loving it. It is fine on the road, really stops the car on track time after time, no fade.
It is now:
Front: 324mm Ford Focup RS Black Diamond ventilated grooved disks, Peter's 4-pot Bremsport calipers and Hawk pads.
Rear: 273mm standard TVR size Black Diamond ventilated grooved disks, standard TVR rear calipers and Ferodo Ds2500 pads.

mine has focus rs discs(non drilled mintex) with ebc ultimax pads and bmw 7 series brembos on the front and standard mintex discs with ebc greenstuff rears. Massive improvement over what it came with!! Yet to use it in anger on the track but more than happy with the increase on the road. Was such an increase that recently i split the vacuum hose to the servo and the brakes were still stonking with no servo assistance biggrin

Thats what i am thinking. The extra width may be whats causing the steering to tramline like it does. With power steering it would be easier to hold but without its just plain hard work!!
Think some 205s are on the cards for road driving. But going to take Qbee up on his offer so i can sort another set of wheels for track days

Just out of interest, does anyone know what it costs to convert to power steering?

I see you have S03's on the front, what pressures are you running? Anything more than about 23/24 used to worsen tramlining when I had the bridgestones.

I've looked into this and electric power steering (EPS) seems to be the way to go. Popular conversion is to use Corsa set-up. For the budding DIY enthusiasts the cost is only the parts plus some time.

For those less inclined there's a company in Warminster who will supply and fit for £1500, + VAT. Not cheap and only to be considered if it's a keeper - but you can't live with the heavy steering. driving

.....or sell the car to one of those people who prefers the non-PAS, and buy a PAS one. We so often forget that the cheapest way to modify a TVR is to let someone else do it and buy their car. I am more guilty than most here.

Just retro fit a rack off another car and rig it up to a mechanical or electric pump cost less than £500
