This Thread is an example of the nasty side of this community that can appear bigoted.
This person who I have never meet has invested a lot of time, energy and his money and saved another TVR ( a good thing in my eyes)
Sometimes I am embarrassed to be part of the community. No one should be treated like this. Playground bullies.
Could we please welcome fresh ideas and new members and keep the community alive.

Everybody is so scared of stepping on someones toes, you sound like a bunch of swedes! Everytime someone destroys a TVR with chavvy parts it hurts the brand just a little bit. You might say oh everyone has different taste and "if he's happy with it" but look at what happened to the E36 BMW cars. Totally destroyed by the chavs and kebab people.

The problem is that most TVRs are too cheap. We have yet to see sags and t350s to be chavved to death, probably a price barrier...

Sort of this, but believe me we do ALL get critisized for doing ANYTHING to our cars from some quarters.
Just some that spring to mind I've had;
'Speed six' light conversion I had - 'trying to make it look like a Tuscan'
When err no, I was matching the 'dog bite' vents at the front similar to a lightweight Cerbera of which is similar to a Chimaera, which is sort of full circle and nothing like a Tuscan. I also wanted to actually see where the road is at night.

Fitted Nitrous, first single injector then multiple injectors for each cylinder assuring equal measures for each cylinder via progressive controller and aftermarket ECU with two differing ignition maps, one for nitrous and one for N/A.
I had - 'NOS is for Saxo's'.

Complete engine strip/rebuild with balancing, forged low comp' pistons, roller rockers, etc, etc and a turbo pushing 458 hp and 554lb/ft torque.
I had - 'Must be st to drive'. 'Look at that crap nut there'. [both in ear shot] 'What's the point if it's not driven enough'. 'turbos are crap' etc.

Use of Alcantara replacing carpeted door cards, dash top, side bolsters, steering wheel centre. I had - 'he's trying to make it look like a Lambo'.
So believe me we all get done over for it, even by some of our own which is most disappointing.

Fortunately, you have thick skin. Pretty sure you don't give a flying fig what others may or may not think. wink

We all reach a time where a change is as good as a rest. You have a car which you know and trust but also fancy something different. That's when the modding kicks in. Whether it's more power, better handling, cosmetic changes to interior/exterior, exhaust system... the list is potentially endless. It stops us getting bored with the same old, same old.
A bit of time and/or money invested and we have a new car! biggrin

Obviously the garage queens won't be happy unless it's as it left Bristol Road (or whatever factory in which their/our cars are made). tongue out

I must admit the project is not to my taste either, but I couldn't agree more with Precat's comments.

I say "each to their own" and I always think there may be something useful to learn, a small element that even though you don't necessarily like the overall outcome may be a great little idea that could be applied to my own car.

I totally accept not everyone would want to put their TVR on LPG, but disappointingly throughout my project I got the distinct feeling there were a few sad individuals that would have liked nothing more than to see it fail.

Once I'd proven it worked really well, the focus of attention turned to why my conversion didn't make financial sense rolleyes

I can only assume the people that carry such negative energy & feel they need to invest considerable amounts of their time and emotion in attacking others must have some real personal issues.

And where are their interesting projects anyway????

To these individuals I recommend a few sessions with a good therapist, failing that Buddhism can be a great help wink

Remember an open mind fills faster than a closed one, and if you're not innovating your not only standing still, you're actually going backwards yes

I don't agree with this. No one is being bullied here, people are just expressing their opinion on something that was pretty much shoved in our faces by being put on the front cover of our club magazine.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and if you don't like what you see a simple 'not for me' or 'I don't like it' would suffice. There is absolutely no need to post some of the offensive replies that have been put on this thread.

It's too easy to be a keyboard warrior, I'd bet if you met the owner and his car at a meet you'd never think of being so rude to his face. As for 'our club magazine', he has as much right to have an article on his car in it as anyone else.

Rant over...

In fairness, having flicked back through the thread I doubt if anyone was being intentionally offensive or rude to the owner, most were expressing their opinion about the mods to the car.

Your right, he is as much entitled as anyone to have his car in the magazine, but putting yourself out there is always going to attract comments both positive and negative.

Anyway, as someone said earlier "each to their own".

May not have been intentionally rude, but blatantly were, so maybe they need to think before they hit enter.

Personally, I don't think the BMW inserts were the way to go as they aren't in keeping with the rounded styling of the car.

I like the idea, but using AM style ones look better - at least I think so.

Maybe something like these...

Or similar might have worked slightly better.

IMHO of course... biggrin

Didn't enjoy the article!! Basically every original part was slated by the lad. He thinks he has improved the car, obv that's his impression anyway. The spoiler is for your 1st car along with the exhuast, however the colour, interior and roof is awesome love what he had done there. "Vents " seriously!! Don't go one little bit. Rear lights are the same as mine and I think they look good.
I have no issue with people doing mods to their car but if you put it on the front page of the magazine it will draw criticism. I got slated for changing my lights! It's not what came out the factory! Who gives! No need to be personal but constructive criticism would of been welcomed
Good on him for trying something different!
