All the above problems can occur on any Chimaera even if its up for sale at 20k
True but a good inspection will show whether it's a good one or not.

If you are unsure, take a competent owner with you who knows the ins and outs.

These are after all, simple cars under the skin!
there are so many variables to prices on chimaera's at the moment, and as Daz has pointed out there are 20k cars out there, with low miles and probably never been tracked , so hardly any wear and tear has taken place. Most of our cars are creeping up to the 80,000 miles bracket , so if they hav'nt had the usual bearings bushes , engine rebuild of some kind, and paint and chassis work, then are are definlty requiring attention . lf your buying a car in the 5 to 7k bracket, without any replacement parts except servicing you will probably be needing maybe double than, if not more with the price of an engine rebuild and spray jobs smile, to get a tip top car , like in the advert

Good cars are out there, I got lucky six months ago, £8000, got me a chim 400. It had a full body off chassis restoration, new brakes, new suspension, new carbon fibre roof, new rear screen and a full engine , gearbox and diff service. 70,000 on the clock and Fenhurst were itching to get there hands on it, the car came with a DVD and photos of the work carried out, I went to view it in Lymington and didn`t need much convincing that this was the car to sit next to my S2. All I`ve had to do to it is clean the stepper motor and fit my brother in laws decat Y piece. OK, it`s not as quick as a 500, but bang for bucks, it is hard to beat. The interior is very good indeed, the boot has a small blemish on it which can be sorted, but I`m to busy driving it biggrin. The true value doesn`t really bother me as I`m still smiling, so keep looking, these cars are great, also a fantastic drive and still turn heads. Oh, forgot the noise cloud9.

that's the bargain of the year. l would like to see your carbon fibre targa roof panel. As it would be so much weight saving from the standard fibre glass one.

Eh? I thought they were C-F anyway, I was impressed with that feature. Does a standard roof look like C-F on the underside?

l have ban-sawed through 2 roofs to make split roofs for people. both of them were fibre glass with a carbon effect finish on the interior

Looks very nice Keith.

Is it Portland grey interior?

I hope also that 400 miles has been with the roof off scratchchin don't want you to become cannon fodder to the Griff,Wedge and S folk.

Not sure how much homework you have done but.... When the roof is being folded down many of us stick a rolled up towel in place as to protect the screen, and undo the valcro strips on the inside has this lets the roof drop slightly.

Pretty sure if buying any 17 year old car it has a chance of some niggles, many brand new cars come with niggles. Niggles can be worked through slowly and inexpensively most of the time or just get to live with them smile
