The OP is using the OEM dizzy and single coil and I think wishes to continue doing so... Short of going wasted spark, what do you suggest as a non-bodge if ignition is the issue, which it might not be? FFS

How did Turbo`s and Super chargers run in the old days without mappable ignition ?

Bodge it, or fix the problem, your choice...plug gap is not the problem.

By either using big FO magneto ignitions or by using less revs/lcylinder pressures, ie making less power.
One coil feeding 8 cylinders at highish rpm squalls less rise time and dwell so less margin if anything is slightly under par. Closing the gaps might reveal the problem and give a workaround but hey ho...

Sorry didn't mean to be so inflamatory, but I don't think the issue is the plug gap, it may have a possitive effect, but, it was working before so I would be looking for a fault.
I am running 14 cuz with 400 atw, with redtop injectors and a standard Bosch regulator and standard plug gap wink

How did you get the 14cux mapped? Mark Adams chip with custom map on the rolling road or is there now an alternative?

Thank you all for suggestions, I'm sure the answer is in there somewhere. Please don't get into argy bargy on my account and Pupp is quite right I do wish to keep the original Lucas set up for the time being. I have a higher flow fuel pump which I will try initially (I have it anyway but it's a long story why I haven't currently got it fitted) and I go through a process of elimination starting cheapest first. The ECU has been remapped by Mark A on a rolling road and I have discussed this latest issue with him, it may need another short session to put right but we'll see.

Thanks again chaps, but please don't fall out with each other, it's really not worth it wink

You can frig about with the weights and vacuum advance- I dont recollect mechanically the exact procedure to cope with the boost over atmosphere with the vacuum, but I know Eann Whalley managed to get it to work on his Turbo option. I must admit I would not want to this mechanically when it does not cost a lot to add a mappable ignition to the current set up.
