I think I must be in a minority of one I like the sound of the original exhaust its loud enough for me 95 db so great for the track and at 70 plus its relatively quiet so if you use the car for touring like us you can drive all day and not need a paracetamol at the and of the day.

I also like my standard sound but when I go to events like TITT I feel i'm missing out on something.

This video has 313 views and i think i account to a hundred of them... Always just makes me smile no matter how many times i watch it.. It's only short but best bit is from 1.07 (the start of it has quite a bit of wind noise)

Love it and hence I've decided to call Central tomorrow.

Yep, me too. The original is subtle, but purposeful enough to let people know what is under the bonnet, without the in your face noise all the time.

Mine is completely standard, and is staying the way TVR intended it to sound wink

Mines standard but pre cats removed and I reckon it rocks. Well said Spaceman, it's like a form of music and I think they got the chemistry overall just right.

After speaking with Central i'm booked in Wednesday to have their Modification.

His advise was that if my cats were out not to go their sleeved approach as in their opinion it becomes very loud.
But when he said everyone he knows who had it done with cats still in left happy and smiling then my next words were when can you have it.

But of course I'm going against the advise that Clive's Y piece and full de-cat is the way to go,and next Wednesday I may be regretting why I didn't listen to you lot and eat humble piesmile

Just a thought, why sleeve the centre box? Just remove and straight pipe it? Hope this isn't a silly question?

I had the ACT Y piece with my old ACT copy exhaust done by a local fabricator ,both together it was terrible so had to sell the converted exhaust .

ACT or Clives Y piece and standard exhaust sounds nice

Pre cats out main cat Y piece and the ACT or properly fabricated converted exhaust sounds even better .

This is the way to convert not the tin opener bodge .

Keep away from these things

I understand the cherry bombs are better but sleeping the box, is that not basically the same as cutting the box out and straight piping anyway. I suppose another way to put it is what does the box actually do it pipe straight through the middle so no gases go through it?

Robert, I'll be down to Brampton regularly in September if you fancy a listen to no pre-cats, Clive Y, and back to standard box..... And 22nd at Snetterton will probably be a few differently configured Chim exhausts to listen to... smile

Holds the brace.

Think it is just the easiest way to achieve a straight through pipe, because if you cut the box out completely, you then have to fabricate a method of reattaching the brace - as this is integral to the exhaust.

Obviously leaving the box in place means you have not touched the brace, so is a quicker method to achieve same end.

IMO,

I see dom, I like the sound of mine which is standard but all cats removed. Also Christ from Newmarket has a standard y pre cats out and sleeved which I also like a lot. Think mine is more grumbly and his higher pitched.

Thanks for the offer chilli, I'm happy with mine at the moment but if it becomes to annoying to change the y at mot Time I'll probably just sleeve the box or even straight pipe it using the same method as the above pic. Queue, don't think he is the new messiah to my knowledge. Think he work in the gas or petroleum industry which would be handy driving a chim. He was at titt11 with the black chim with multi colour flake in the paint and the calibre wire wheels. Which I'm hoping to purchase for mine.
