At slow speeds (possibly higher but can't hear) my wheels have started to squeak, sing, whatever you want to call it. Stops when I apply the brakes but when driving around town get this annoying high pitched whine.

Pads & Discs not new - replaced a year or so ago and only about 5000 miles (if that) so not likely to have worn out.

Any advice on how to stop it? Its making the car look/sound like a badly made kit car.

If 'twer me, I'd whip the pads out check 'em and clean 'em up first, and at the same time check for any play in the wheel bearings.... could be you've got a bit of debris in one of the pads...

I had this, it's bloody irritating. Just either as Chilli says, something in there (most likely), or could just be that a pad has moved and a high spot on the dsk is subtly remoulding the pad to its liking.

Did you put any copper grease behind the pads when you changed them?

New discs and pads fitted by garage last year.

Squeaking recent, so possibly something caught under them. Doesn't, however, sound that coarse - difficult to believe this is a stone or somesuch.

Will let you know how I get on.
