halfway through dash removal then this......
Discussion
Help please! After a few choice words and a great deal of frustration I thought the dash was nearly ready to go back and then found two lights soldered and there doesn't seem an obvious way to take them off and fit them to the new one. I'm probably missing something obvious but I've never soldered before if that's what I need to do?
Think the board and LED complete should carefully pull out of the ally bezel that presses through from the front of the dash. Just a snug fit, glass envelope into ally, maybe held with a dab of hot glue or silicone etc. The pic shows the bezel is missing its retaining star washer (prolly not a problem as they are normally pretty tight and need to be pressed in). Again, can be bonded - have used sikkaflex
Mine were well glued in, but was eventually able to pick out and release with a compass point.
Replacement star nuts of the correct diameter are available at a price from the usual suspects.
At the time i was not brave enough to use a soldering iron, but i'm sure that is the easiest and quickest way.
