Air Filter(s) - DAZ?

There's enough filtration there for 500 hp normally asprated. We did a test on Daz's car of his filter set up versus a straight pipe over the wing (ie no restriction). There's was nothing in it HP wise between the two.
I run one of those f branches on my sc griff as one filter was too restrictive. Despite fitting a k&n filter rated to 500 bhp I watched one on my silicone induction hose get sucked flat on the r/r, when I read the small print on the filter it said 500 fi and 350 na..so I redesigned sc powers intake with 2 filters and instantly got another 6psi from the rotrexThanks to Peter the F pipe and twin Pipercross are in the post.
Will be fitted Saturday, mapping checked and tweaked at full throttle then off to York to run a 12.3 NA and stretch the Chimaera NA record further from Daz's grasp
Also going to be entering the annual 'Street Racer' competition.
£1000 winner takes all. Wish me luck.... gonna need buckets of it.

My bro-in-law won that in 90 with his Ford Pop (well Anglia actually) Will be fitted Saturday, mapping checked and tweaked at full throttle then off to York to run a 12.3 NA and stretch the Chimaera NA record further from Daz's grasp

I came runner up in 2009.But since they put the prize money in the mix some quick cars are making the journey.
I got knocked out in the second round last year by a very unassuming mk3 escort!
A monstrous scooby took the win running an 8. Very debateable if the car could be considered true 'road'
Had over 1000bhp ffs.
Heres my losing run

Love the way your Chim hooks up some very rapid shifts there Derek I have seen that Escort and I think that's not a fair pairing IMO But since they put the prize money in the mix some quick cars are making the journey.

Warmed Mickey Thompsons are the secret to the grip. Also setting the shocks for weight transfer. As for the gearchanges, they get faster depending on the opposition it seems. I always run my best times against faster cars.
The draws were fair based on qualification times and a set ladder. Was just unlucky to get Wenny so soon.
He got to the final and was easily beat by the scooby. Ive seen him whinging on about whats the point of coming back if he cant win. I love the car but dont care for the guys attitude. I will race anything on the strip. Only takes a red light, missed gearchange, engine misfire etc and the win can be yours against much faster cars. Ive won a few significant races that way. Consistancy and reliability play as big a part as outright grip and horsepower. All great fun whatever happens.
Has anyone fitted an air box and filter similar to the Cerb on a Chimaera - under the front of the bonnet drawing air from in front of the rad? I am sure I have seen this somewhere on here but can't find it right now.
I am looking to go that way for future - currently I have to pull the turbos off and take the radiator out to change the filters which is a small pain.....
Cheers,
Matt

Is it busy at York or do you get plenty of runs ? fancy that ..Is it Run What Ya Brung Saturday ?Will be fitted Saturday, mapping checked and tweaked at full throttle then off to York to run a 12.3 NA and stretch the Chimaera NA record further from Daz's grasp

So, Q for the NA guys advocating this approach, care to point me to the law of physics that says air at 100Kpa or thereabouts will be less restricted by a pipe of a given size for having two filters hanging on the end of it? And why not three, or four...? Genuine Q by the way
Because mine was tested on the rollers ,zero difference in hp when tested with a straight smooth piece of pipe (no air filter) and the ACT induction kit and two air filters . It may be a different story with an engine with more that 350hp .A larger air filter with a wider throat fitted with a reducer would probably be the same .
I get that Daz but the crucial comparison is missing - ie the ACT induction kit with a single filter. Still no drop I'd anticipate.
Has anyone actually measured the pressure in the inlet? Pretty much all the aftermarket ECUs can log this with a MAP sensor added and configured - post up or I'll continue to say snake oil for an RV8 without a compressor on the end of it

Not only have you halved the restriction of the filter by doubling up, you have also doubled the surface area of the intake...doesn't moving air have similar properties to fluid dynamics?Air is elastic but a NA engine will only have atmospheric air pressure to force that elasticity - if the pipework remains the same size, and the original filter flows enough to max that at the pressures involved, then increasing the filter media area will have no beneficial effect... no?
Like I say, no-one actually measured anything apart from HP? Theres enough cars 300+hp on a single filter, mine included, so I just doubt the filter itself is that big a deal in the context of the pipework, AFM (if fitted) and throttle plate etc
A NA 4.6 motor WFO at 5k rpm will suck, at most, 11,500 litres of air a minute - that's not actually that much through a filter that size is it?

If it makes no difference at least the air filter position saved my engine from taking in water in a flash flood .
