Bit late up, first sparrow had farted.
However, on my car, a pair of brown wires leave the red battery terminal, 12 inches of cable in a corrugated black cover, into 80 amp fuse, two brown wires leave and go into a corrugated black cover and head up behind the dash.

If your battery is still in the footwell, the fuse has to be there.

My red and black battery cables and the loom run up into the dash area next to where the passengers right knee would be. There are no cables at all above the battery part form the red and black bolted to the front of the battery box.

I am guessing that the fuse has been relocated inside the dash, or may have been removed altogether.

If the fuse has indeed blown, does that mean that anything connected to the fuse box will have no power? If that is the case then I can check what working an eliminate the fuse, and therefore not have to remove the top of the dash.

I was thinking last night what if the ECU has blown. What things would still work and what would not. Any ideas?

Thanks very much guys for all your help with this, but unfortunately my chim is still stuck on my drive getting in the way of the rest of my families cars.

Today I tried to find the missing 80A fuse but failed again I think it has been hidden under the dash board in a fuse box relocation.
However using a bit of logic, I think that even if the fuse is hidden it hasn't blown as everything in the fuse box appears to be working, hazards, curtsy lights etc.

So the latest is, the car turns over, the fuel pump is now priming thanks to a full day and night of charging the battery and making sure the relays have been replaced I think.

Now I know there is fuel getting through I turned my attention to the ignition. I pulled off one of the leads and got my son to hold it near an earth point whilst I turned it over.
Alas no spark!

I am now thinking that I have actually blown the ECU. Is this the correct logic, or does something else control ignition. Ideas most appreciated!

Trev.

Have you not got a multimeter, you're going to struggle to find the cause of this without one...

Hold on to each of those relays in the footwell when you turn the ignition on, you should be able to feel each of them click. Stick a multimeter onto the feed for the coil to make sure that it's getting power.

Remove the bulb holder from one of the side repeater indicators in the wing, unplug one of the injectors and plug the bulb holder into the loom. When you crank the engine the bulb should flash, this means that the ecu/injectors are working.

Multimeter £10-15 from Maplins, or £20 from Halfrauds

Here's a suggestion - your profile says you are in Beds. Hopefully the top right corner, not Milton Bloody Keynes.
I work in the Cambridge area regularly, so if i take the Chim to work one day this week (ooh, the hardship!hehe), I can pop over after work and we can try bits off my car on yours until we isolate what isn't working. I also have a multimeter idea

Suggestions to the Chim-minded of Beds/Northants - anyone fancy doing the same if Trev can give us a more accurate area of Beds so we can tell if it isn't absolutely miles away? Almost all of you will have a better idea than me of what you are doing.....spin

The good news is I do have a multimeter!

Qbee your offer would be most appreciated. I am in Dunstable, which is South Beds so it might be a bit far though I do make a mean coffee and have some Deparados in the fridge. Thats if I don't drink them tonight!

Spaceman, from your suggestions I guess the ECU controls the coil and the injectors; so if its duff they won't work?

Good, we have a plan.
Not Monday (track day at Cadwell Park), not Thursday (wife to hospital).
What time are you home on Tuesday?

Ok. Not a problem. I have to be at a client near Cambridge on one of those two days. I will be in touch before then.

Spoke to my TVR guy today. He, like you, suspects that the ECU may be damaged, but warned me not to connect my ECU in your car as any short could blow my ECU in the same way.

Still happy to try other components.

Thanks guys, I will order the cable this morning.

Qbee I don't want to waste your time if it is the ECU but an experience set of eyes will still be most appreciated.
