Wipers not turning off...

I've read the various problems with the park switch, however, my wipers are parking okay. The problem is that they don't switch off. Using the windscreen washers sets off the wipers (as it should), however, they then take about 20 mins to turn off, despite electing several positions with the stalk. Any ideas where I should start?
Check the park switch on the motor itself they have a constant live so if the park condition is never met the motor will just keep cycling looking to park

Should see a constant +12v on one pin, and then the single speed +12v should poll on as you engage the wipers (wash / swipe / intermittent will pulse it ~ leaving the park to do the return. If it is staying on that would indicate a switch gear problem, if it is pulsing that will point to a problem in the park switch (or cam/groove on the gear that activates the park switch).
Thats the only real way I can see to validate your 'suspicion' that the park switch is good in view of the symptoms you described.

If you put the wipers on normally (move the stalk up) then switch them off and they park (which is what I think that you are saying in your original post) then it is not the parking switch.
If it only happens when you use the washer, then there is a timer that it triggered and keeps the wipers on for (what should be) a few seconds. This is most likely where you problem lies.
Not having had this problem myself I have not had to find the timer so don't know wgphere it is, but as a guess I would start under the dash top as that is where the wires for the controls seam to disappear.

Well, the park switch has definitely seen better days and is pretty corroded, so I've ordered another.
I couldn't seem to get any definitive answers with the multimeter, although I could hear the intermittent wiper setting clicking in and out. I noticed that there five pins in and three out of the switch, so is the switch also acting like a relay and switching the voltage from the battery to the wiper motor? When I attempted to remove the park switch , I noticed that the wiper motor began to get quite hot, so wondered if it was shorting due to corrosion?

All the the wiring behind the stalks looks pretty good, clean and secure ( took the plastic off the steering column today). Put the old switch back in for now and the problem still exists, can't get the damn things to turn off at any setting. May have to disconnect them for the next couple of days. As I said, I can hear the intermittent relay working okay. Cheers for that. The park switch arrived today so will fit tomorrow or Monday. The switch works when hand held,however, I when the motor is running and I look through the bottom I to the recess where the park switch belongs, I can see a cam rotating inside and I'm wondering if it's this that isn't catching the switch to turn them off?
If the wipers park ok from either intermittent, slow or fast then the park switch is OK.
If the wipers take a long time to stop after using the washers then I'd check the wiper delay relay on the fuse board.
You should be able to feel it click when you activate the washers (get someone to pull the lever when you've managed to stick your head and arms down the foot well).
Once the wipers are going pull the relay, if the wipers park then probably the relay is duff.
