Converting to Megasquirt

So my conversion is complete and running, it all went reasonably smoothly. I did find some areas of it frustrating but it was an interesting project.
Shaun of Ms2 Tuning connected remotely to make some tweaks for me, the map actually feels pretty good on the road.
Proper mapping is the next stage but Shaun is 4 hours away and im struggling to get hold of Bailey performance at the moment.
Shaun has been to my place in Surrey a couple of times. Happy few to meet him halfway if he would for you to have a mapping session.Shaun of Ms2 Tuning connected remotely to make some tweaks for me, the map actually feels pretty good on the road.

Stupid Siri.
That was supposed to read, I'm happy for you to have your car mapped at my place which is probably about halfway in between Shaun and you if he wants to travel over.
Very generous of you, thanks. That was supposed to read, I'm happy for you to have your car mapped at my place which is probably about halfway in between Shaun and you if he wants to travel over.
I will let you know what he says if i get no response from bailey.

Dale's mobile number 07967222967.I will let you know what he says if i get no response from bailey.
I don't really chase people if they can't be bothered to reply to both emails and calls.

Very happy now, especially with the pops and bangs on the overrun!
I was like a big kid driving home!
They're addictive, aren't they? I was like a big kid driving home!
I frequently switch to that map on my Emerald, just for the sheer hell of it.....and I am a 66 year old big kid.
Growing up is for others....

Funny you say thatI frequently switch to that map on my Emerald, just for the sheer hell of it.....and I am a 66 year old big kid.

Having only driven my car just a few times over a period of months so a bit like getting into a new toy each time,I take in the niceties like the clocks, gear change which are slick, all the engineering and lovely burble, then remember the pops and bangs which can be provocked with clever throttle at around 1700 revs very easily, just makes me giggle and thrill,,,
When I’m using it lots I avoid the bangs, the other week and a quick run, it’s such a great aspect of these cars and reminded me just why they are so cool.

Yeh you can make them crackle by tuning lean on the overrun bins in the VE / AFR target tables.
Used to be called flap, crackle and pop in wedge circles because the flapper (4CU) wedges did it. It was caused by the overrun valve opening as the revs fall on overrun - actually the overrun valve was fitted I believe to prevent the engine going hella rich on overrun and puffing out black smoke. Anyway, the air coming in through the overrun valve sent the mixture quite lean, which results in a really s-l-o-w flamefront in the combustion chamber, so slow in fact that its still burning as it goes out the exhaust valve. That is what causes that lovely overrun crackle. I'm not sure what that does to the exhaust valve, but I would imagine there is so little fuel going in on overrun that there isn't enough heat being liberated to overheat the valve.
Sounds cool and I may very well persuade the Chim to do it when it gets its first start on Megasquirt3X in a couple of weeks time, hopefully.

I made a point of mapping to avoid this I dont mind muted burble but crackles and especially bang's do my nut in I also use over-run fuel cut enabled which puts the dampners on things too lots of kids round these parts have late current Mini Coopers Corsa VXR's etc mapped especially to create this din and my work place is on a hill so I hear it daily fkERS did my younger years with 2 1/4 single box ex systems on 4 pot Fords with side-draught carbs so got this out of my system many years ago

It’s why Jason at Powers is so good, been there got theT shirt.
I said where I’d want it and not extreme, just the ticket, my throttle is off and only by adding a tad of throttle will I get them. Awesome burble control.

Last Thursday the hot engine was causing mine to let off huge bangs on the overrun, whilst Peter had lovely coiling flames coming out of his exhaust when i was following him through the Esses at Snetterton.
