Is this thread in the right place? It has nothing whatsoever to do with the TVR Chimaera and is the sort you see in General Gassing with 100 + pages, after everybody gets to show how much they've got to spunk on a car.

Very true, made me laugh, we don't use the word, "spunk" in this context enough!

BTW, bought an old ML yesterday as a daily. Not so much a snotter as just a bad cold!

I assume most people here have their Chim/TVR on a classic/limited use policy and their NCB etc on the normal car?

Since mine is the only car, it is with a regular insurer at the moment as they were the cheapest. I've got commuting on it, but they don't offer a multicar policy so I also now see some faff with insurance policies in my future if I pick up a snotter.

This thread (and the other) has given me ideas, but also shown me the paucity of decent, cheap used cars in my area. If I look around my work postcode (granted it is London), there is a HUGE selection compared to home.

I love the £50 Pug!

I've got an immaculate Golf GTi, V reg, 160K miles and drives like a 3 year old car. Paid £500 for it.

Just goes to show what you can buy.

Oh man my 50 quid pug needs a cat,,,,,, aah it's ok it's only 38 quid, the bloody interior light doesn't work, I might take it back. Seriously it's got zero rust, interior is mint, I see 08 plate cars with more issues. I'm really fond of it, makes a change to not stress over a motor. Nice.
We sold the old boy another motor and really looked after him so he brought the pug down the garage and just said give me. 50 quid. I snapped his hand off. Bargain of the year, it's even got a towbar.

Far from having ago here because that XF 5.0 is lovely. But when you think that's the latest 2013/14 technology with supercharger and looking at the performance figures a standard 500 Chimaera is faster and a good 400 there's probably not a lot in it.

Praise to TVR considering it's 15-20 years older than the latest stuff on the block.

ps.. I only looked on the classifieds at the figures they are giving of 4.9secs 0-60 and a Max of 155

We have an Alfa 147 JTD lusso which we bought new in 2003. It has been without a doubt THE best car we have ever had. It still has an interior that disgraces most new cars even now. Do NOT beleive the Clarkson crap.
Also have a 13 year old Merc' Vito and an Astravan sportive.

Your absolutely spot on, my Chimaera is faster smile

The XF is a heavy barge and that is reflected in the 0-60 time of 4.6 sec, it just can't get the power down without spinning up, it's just too heavy for a quick start!

The TVR has much better presence and far more fun to drive smile

That looks immense fun! Jealous. smile

That Jag scares me more than an Alfa. tongue out I am paying close attention to Alfa's on ebay, PH etc, and am being quite strict with myself and not just upping the budget when I see something shiny. wink
