Ohh the fun of going in straight line and let's see what we can bust smile hope it's nothing serious daz
Come and do a track day, Nigel. It has corners.....those things that mean fun. And in an entire day you get to drive for as long as you like, typically three or four hours, and without speed cameras. I can lend you some track tyres so long as you are still on four stud hubs.

Had a fun day. Definitely a few lessons learnt, but most important I posted a 12.352s even with a bad start on that run. Not bad for a 4LTR smile

It turns out that my 'wobble' down the traffic I was experiencing which got much worse by 4th run was in fact the Mickey Thompsons rubbing on the rear of the arch really badly and on one side much worse, I think at speed they expand as they are like a big balloon really.

Definately more to come from you and your car Nick. More track time and those tyres will give you an awesome launch and your times will be very close to running in the 11's IMO.

My best was 12.3 at 116mph. I'm really happy with how it went, the R1R had quite a bit of grip but I think I might invest in an upgrade for next time.
Car looked great Andy, would love to see some pictures up on here! and also hear a few more details of what you have done to the car.

Can't believe not another new 11..shows how much power and torque you need!!

When I got mine I was 2.07 60ft which I believe is cack.

Shouldn't anything around 380bhp + be able to do this Derek ??

Must of been beginners luck for me lol

Hope I can get to some next year its very addictive smile

You had over 400 bhp at the time Neal.
I believe any TVR with 350 lb/ft could run an 11 given the right tyres, set up and driving technique.
Nick, Barrie, Peter and Andy will all get into the 11's on the right day i reckon.
Just need to get the 60 foots at least 1.80 and a few quick gearchanges and job done.

My car is finally coming back home tomorrow after a much longer than expected visit to get the suspension and chassis tune up it needed. I hope to run into the 11's and will be looking forward to meeting some of you to show me the ropes.

Looking at Nicks 0-60ft times with drag radials there is definitely an advantage with them.

Looking at my past performances when I got 12.5 and similar times, the 0-60ft were all about 2 seconds.

Yesterdays were quicker by a tad but still consistent.

I reckon that's the limit with Triple 8s.

Maybe. I used to run low 1.9's on 888's
The main problem is that they arent designed for the purpose. They are too stiff in the sidewall.

Dedicated tyres such as the MTs we are using are soft in construction as well as the rubber itself. They flex and create a large contact patch at launch. Nicks race tyres are probably overkill for our cars. The street ET radials that Brummmie and i use provide all the grip you will ever need following a good burnout. They are street legal too. Not cheap but a world apart when on the strip.

Oh and btw, I ran 11.7 @ 126.8 with a crap burnout and just a whisker under 2 seconds to 60 foot.

to add... low profile tyres dont work on the strip either.
Ideally we should have 15's with 60 profiles but the standard 16's are fine. My 255/50/16's have enough sidewall to flex

Wrong answer Derek, you should have replied, "that's very good Peter, You couldn't have done any better" hehe

The queues were unbelievable this time. I only got 3 runs in frown

What do you reckon then Derek based on this is my car capable of sneaking into the 12s? This was on standard road tyres and I didn't bother lowering the pressures. What do you reckon on the launch in the video is that about right or a bit more gas off the start line?

York is the best place for the most runs in RWYB. It's also the best set up too having 2 sets of pits. Race cars are separate. So you can watch the racing without having to stay by your car the whole time.

Daz sometimes you will run a little faster through the trap yet be slower in the ET. Your ET is all down to your launch off the line and swift gear changes. If you get a bad start you will still see a similar top speed but your ET will suffer.

2.0 to 60 foot is very good on road tyres. I do think you could still get a 12 easy enough tho. If you are not wheelspinning at all then try a few more revs and getting to full throttle quicker. Try changing gear as fast as possible.

Also don't forget to stage only enough to light the 2 stage lights at the top of the tree. Don't roll any further forward. This gives you the maximum run up to the timing beam wink

Thanks, what is the optimum rpm to change gear for something like my engine . . For some reason i want to stay in third gear for as long as possible .
