Hi thanks again but I tin mne has been apart as I cannot recall any steel spring or anything to locate into the teeth.
I've tightened the torx screw as tight as I dare into the mirror head and it is pretty secure. Got everything back and workng, time will tell if it's secure. If you see a blue mirror lying by the side of the road - its mine

Apologies to mav 1 for nicking this from his long repair description. It's the slightly rusty length of steel seen below:

Oh!
Don't think I've got one of those.
That would give me a positive position to locate the mirror rather than guess an angle out of 360.
Me thinks someone has been there before me....

The mirror support bracket has 3 'teeth' that the bent bit at the end of the length of steel locates in. Against the tension of the steel seen above, the mirror should have 3 positions.

You can see the teeth at the bottom of the bracket sold by Racetech. not a plug, there may be cheaper suppliers:

If you do up a replacement bolt tight enough, you won't need it. The mirror will be secure but not adjustable. Once you've got it in the right place and have enough adjustment electrically, I'd recommend not moving it at all if possible!
