I've changed my dash and fitted the gauges like for like with regard to the wiring but now my rev counter isn't working and I have no instrument lights.
I've changed a 15 amp fuse so I have the clock, oil pressure, fuel and water temp working but non of them light up.( checked the left side button under the dash and no joy).
Likewise the rev counter isn't working and I'm beginning to second guess my re-wiring of its connectors so if anyone is familiar with its wiring could you check this pic out for me and let me know.

cheers,

John

Have you switched them off? you need side lights on AND the dash light switch on..that said there a connection next to the radio from the under the dash switch that if it is not connected then nothing will work.

If you have checked all the relevant fuses then you need to start a new thread asking for a Chim owner with a similar aged car and from your neck of the frozen north to pop over at the weekend and lift his lid so you can check the connections together.

I would volunteer if I had any crampons and an ice axe.....

Arm yourself with a multimeter so you can compare voltages/currents too, just in case you have actually missed a blown fuse.

You're bound to get a few volunteers - they are a cheery lot up there, and not having a decent football team to watch they probably have plenty of spare time..... hehe

Cheers for the replies guys, Adrian I had already checked the switch under the left side of the steering column, no luck there but I went back and checked the switch itself and that was the cause. For some reason it has 4 terminals and the 2 that were wired had no continuity but I found 2 that didyes

Funnily enough Brett my 15amp fuse was blown as well but it wasn't the cause of the instrument lights problem jst another little gremlin to deal with.

QBee you don't need crampons and an ice axe, just a decent set of snow tyres biggrin

turns out the rev counter just had a poor connection.

As the nights draw in we start to discover lighting problems
Was almost up N. Shields last night in mine but had a different problem, turned back at the A167 and returned in another car.
