You can loose your brakes with only 180hp and a 14.5 second 1/4 mile .. laugh

All you do is keep adding weight with new trinkets and silly Batman lightssmokin

Daz, I've used Halfords "Racing" brake fluid over the last 5 or 6 years, change it every 12-18 months.

Cheapish and has worked perfectly for dozens of TDs.

I was advised to use dot 5.1 racing fluid if doing track days, especially on tracks with lots of braking, as it has a higher boiling point and you can boil standard brake fluid, with the consequent loss of braking. Changed annually, like Peter's.

I have not suffered any brake fade or loss of braking - maybe I am just not trying ard enough.......or maybe it does what it says on the tin?

I've gone for blue racing fluid, easy to tell when you're at the new stuff, needed surprising little to completely change fluid
then when you change go for orange.

In fairness there is a huge range in quality of the DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 fluids. A few good quality (branded) DOT 4 fluids perform better than the value DOT 5.1.

I've always used DOT 5.1 in my cars and bikes. It made a huge difference to the reliability of my mtb brakes.

In reality, fresh brake fluid is better than old brake fluid so if it's changed regularily then either should be fit for purpose.

All the good stuff is DOT4, look for boiling point 300C+, Available from CL/Motul/AP/Castrol etc, but race fluid wants to be flushed through pretty regular.
