Anyone ditched the water pipes down by the rocker covers ?, I know it's been done but with coil packs fitted behind the plenum ? Any pics would be appreciated

Yep - 15mm stainless (obtain from industrial plumbers) can be bent up to go through the valley instead and get on to the necessary tails and inlet manifold with a suitable silicone bend. Think there's a way of doing it without the bend too (Spend will know); really improves access to the offside rocker box and manifold etc - at least a couple of threads from a few years ago so worth a search with my name or Ant's in it

Mine have been junked on both chims.

I have the P38 coil packs.

one heater hose runs next to the offside injectors and turns with an elbow into the manifold.

The other runs under the inlet manifold, under the cross member and connects to the steel water pipe.

Much neater.

pictures to follow.

You can see one connection in this old picture.

I'll take a couple tomorrow as car on the ramp at the mo.

That needs the manifold tapping under the valley & the side plugging up, so both run under the valley but the feed is shortened.

I also strongly like the mod I do tapping into the water pump so the heater return hose just drops over the front of the engine straight into it ~ instead of having to cross manifolds/y into swan neck.

Much as other replies, I've replaced mine with standard rubber water hose, one running under the inlet manifold, over the valley to the S shaped steel or stainless hose, the other running around & above the o/s rocker cover, as per Phazed, although I braided mine as well (of course !).

I found there was just enough room for the heater return hose to route behind all the ancillaries and reconnect to the swan neck (although its pretty close to the serp belt !)

Like this, I went with 1/2 BSP tapped pipe with an elbow down to 5/8 or 16mm for the heater hose in the 2nd pic & secured by that un-drilled boss also in shot with a P clip wink (not my intake manifold) My heater loop is separate to the oil cooler loop

Still waiting for the correct fittings to turn up but you get the general idea scratchchin I have used 1/2 BSP x 16mm-5/8 barbs/tails (ignore the upward facing nipple that's just resting there) rolleyes thought you might like to see my finished heads too

.... Yeh right hehe
