Yes number 2 at York, then number 5 at the pod. Should have it all back together with a new elring this afternoon.
Yes i know... should have done the pair at the same time
Yes you should have you naughty boy I dont need to tell you that after Nitrous induced HG failures the next step up the ladder are costly one's of which you have 8 round one's but you fixed the reason so ........ I just love the way its found the weakest part of the HG exactly in between the fasteners Yes i know... should have done the pair at the same time
Given you've clearly reached the limit for the cylinder pressures that combination of gasket and ARP clamping force can contain, any plans for using a different HG arrangement? Take it there's no damage showing on the piston tops or chambers that would indicate det occurring?
I had a couple of instances of a bike HG do that - second time it was into the cam chain tunnel and by the time I realised what had happened it had pressurised the sump and blown much of the the oil out the breather. Not pretty nor cheap

Just wondering DB. Are your cylinder head bolts stretching to blow a gasget? Perhaps a correct torque re tightening of the bolts after a normal warm up before and after a drag sprint may prevent these failures in future and ease the 10 hour replacement stints. I read somewhere that new bolts should be used when a cylinder head is lifted. Your heads have been lifted a few times now. When did you last use new head bolts? Just a thought.

ARP studs I presumed this was just a fuel oversight on Derek's part and that he corrected the mistake when he renewed the HG on the other bank this looks to be a typical NOS and not enough fuel failure I thought, a left over from the 1st failure my bro-in-law had similar repeated HG failures using NOS on a BB Ford motor back in the early days of NOS before he quickly realized he had fuel pressure issues (too low) pump couldn't supply enough.
