I thought downforce equals drag, and isn't that unwanted?
Higher tire pressure will give lower rolling resistance. I'd go 35 psi. Tuck the wing mirrors in so they dont fall off or the glass flies out!
Have fun!

Sorry did I miss something. Who mentioned downforce? Yes tyre pressures will be up and I may lower the ride height also and tighten the show up a little. There will also be gaffer tape as a precautionary measure against losing the roof panel... again

Wow what a day.
There was a nice tailwind which probably helped matters.

First run of the day, no gas just fining my feet... 155 mph
2nd run i used a little gas and saw 162 on the TomTom but no speed was recorded.
3rd run on stage 1 with a 100 shot for the last 1/8th mile... 169.4
4th run using both stages of nitrous ie 100 + 70 left it too late to make a difference... 169.7

last run (ie was happy at this point to call it a day while the car was still in 1 piece)

That's a good start... biggrin

Well done there Derek.
Things do start to feel very different at those kinds of speeds don't they?
Not much of a day weather-wise and first time attempt, I would call that a pretty good result, even for a hardened 1/4 miler.
And best of all, you are 'here' to tell us about it smile

ETA
I am betting, with all those horses available to you, there could easily be another 10-15 mph in there for you. Albeit at some greater risk to your engine perhaps.

Well done, that's a cracking result... I'm assuming it must have been revving right out even with your long legged diff? Testament to the set-up too that nothing let go under that treatment, that's quite a distance WFO

Did you do the time you were wanting?

Well done Derek, sorry but only just got your text ! Hope the cans worked ok, I assume so. That must've felt pretty hairy in conditions like we've had today, good job the airfield wasn't on the west coast !!

Derek have you ever come across sommet like this on your travels. My engineering company (well it's a one man band actually) but any way he has built his own rolling road which I was very interested in as he has used parts from a double decker bus and this machine and I mean apart from the block and pistons he built it. it's a 2.6lt V6 two stroke engine. not very quick just yet but he is getting there. Always makes me wonder how dumb I am LOL
