Always a good idea but unlikely to cure shunting IMO... frown

Make sure you but good quality leads.

My last set lasted about 2500 miles before they gave misfiring problems. In France! Fortunatley I had kept the old cap and leads and had them with me. Swapped them over and all was well again.

Also, make sure the cap and rotor arm are good quality. I took back the last rotor arm I was supplied with as it was so flimsy and crap quality. The cap wasn't much better and I shall be sticking with Lucas ones as long as possible.

I think I’m going to swap my fancy blue Magnacore HT leads for the standard Bosch ones which everyone seems to recommend. This weekend was the second time a HT lead has fallen off the distributor cap and they’re starting to perish on the nearside!

Maybe mine just need adjusting with some pliers, I don't know. But they're definitely starting to perish where a couple of the HT leads have been rubbing in the past. I've now sorted it with some spacers, but they're not looking their best so I think I'll replace them. Also, my tacho jumps all over the place, I've been told it could be the HT leads causing this.

This something i need to look at when I recommission it in winter after been off the road for 13 months after loosing my job. Last time out it developed missfire.

Glad to say I have a job now and can start to looking forward to using it again. Im thinking off giving below a try as I replaced the whole ign system only 10months prior to losing my job and it developed a miss.

I used Lucas silicone last time im guessing its these that are at fault as i wasnt overly impressed with them. With the above they claim to have stainless steel wrap im guessing this will offer a bit more protection against heat. Not sure if you could use these with the plug extenders though as they are resistance lead. Also they make to size so that a bespoke king lead can be made as the land rover v8 is always to long.

Yes, I think so.

For the record, my HT lead fell off at the distributor cap.

I'd highly recommend yellow ones. Phazed also has yellow ones. 3 years and 14k miles since they were installed and no issues. None.

Feck it, that'll be the kiss of death frown
