If you're not interested it's ok, for the people that are then please carry on.
Russell, you've obviously got something in mind, I'll go with whatever sensible ideas you come up with, knowing there is always the £2.93 (or was it £2.63) option. At last you've reminded me to do something about my large dark hole that allows all that crap into my clutch. Keep us posted. Pete

I'm in if they're a few quid as I'm bound to lose mine at some point, if they're many quids though I'm out as I still have one and if I have a spare it'll never fall out hehe

Well it shows how wrong you can be. You know what they say about us men, we are not aware of our bodies as much as women.....! So my large dark hole is round, 100mm or 4 in. in diameter and this is on a T5 gearbox married to a 500 engine. I would still like 2 or 3 but I must check the 'Green Meanie' as well because although they are both 95 cars, no doubt TVR changed the spec....! Pete

This is what is on my car and I always assumed it was a TVR effort but reading this thread...apparently not. It must have been done during the cars stay in Japan.

That's interesting Darren maybe it's a Japan thing. Just had a look under my dash top and while I do have quite a birds nest under there, I don't have the two unused plugs that you do. Your car is a later model than mine maybe that's the reason.

I put the 'Green Meanie' up on the lift as I know its bung is still intact.

I think this is how it should be. The material is very flexible, rubber type. These must be available somewhere. Could it be a Rover product? Pete

Where did the Rover V8 to Tremec bellhousing originate from, what cars had it factory fitted?

I'm drawing a bit of a blank here (no pun intended). It looks like TVR part number F0415 T5 plastic plug ret bell/hsg but a Google search gets me nowhere. It does look like a one off production job. Pete

Just found out that the GM 4L60E bellhousing has a 100mm inspection hole that has a tin bung with folding tabs to hold it in, better design but I don't know where to get those from in the UK though..

This is proving somewhat difficult. Thought I would help out and went to Hill's Rubber Co Ltd (no jokes please) in Reading. Much sucking of teeth and they will get back to me.... Rang up Keith at Racetech, who said they have been looking for ages but tooling is expensive. I said there is probably a market for at least 20, straight off and again he said he would look into it. Russell, did you have another supplier in mind? Looks like the plastic bungs from Ross Castors may be our only option.... Pete

ETA: Which is too small according to this:

That's the same as the one I linked. I believe it's nearer 85mm than the desired 100mm.

Yes - just did a double check and you sre right - too small. If only the origin of the bell housing was clearer........

Dave, I know but I wanted to get the original bung. Having said that, your option looks ideal, I'm going to give them a buzz today after 9am. and order one. If OK I'll let everyone know. I'm not sure a group buy is really worth the hassle as it only saves a bit and then means sending out each bung individually. Anyway I'll keep all informed. Pete
