Evening chaps.
I am going to replace the radio in my chim, it doesn't have to be flashy, the only requirements I have are that it has a USB port(preferably a rear one do I can run a lead somewhere) and I don't want it to look like a spot on the end of a cock.
Any recommendations folks?

I got a new one recently... Went for a pioneer MVH-X560BT as its got a fairly simple front. USB and aux in the rear... Half depth so easy fit and bluetooth is the seller for me.

Unfortunately I got a well known highstreet car accessories superstore to fit the radio as I had a broken wrist. An hour and a half later and its semi fitted with damaged veneer and one speaker not functioning. Not impressed. Lesson learnt... Do it yourself or find quality specalist service.

I like Pioneer too, but I went for the DEH-P4100SD, as it has an SD card slot in the front.
I too didn't want a USB stick poking out & getting in the way during gear changes.

I don't think you need to focus on rear USB only. I got a Kenwood U373BT for mine and very happy with it, and cheap too. Will play most formats of audio files, Bluetooth connectivity and USB port although on the front.

All you need is USB drives like this.

Just looks like a USB cap, has plenty of storage and is very cheap. You can swap easily for whatever playlist collection you feel like at the time.

Normally my playlist though is audio off smile

I went for Pioneer DEH-4600BT RDS Tuner with Bluetooth,
The speakers just meant an extra wee hole in door panel beside main speaker for tweeters,
Vibe Black Air 6" Component Car Speakers,
Plus Vibe Slick 4" V5 Co-Axial Car Speakers in door panel,
with the Vibe Black Air 69 6x9" 3 Way Car Coaxial Speak rear woofers which was 2 bigger holes but very effective in vertical shelf panel,,, use a Dremmel for cutting at slow speed minimum dust/mess,,,

A great system not expensive but there are many systems on the market, oh and it was from Halfords,

Happy choosing

What ever you need it has to have bluetooth handfree and streaming from you phone.
Fitted one of this week these to stop me from picking the phone up, sounds good, a DIN fitting so an easy swap to current speakers.

I got a Pioneer DEH-X8500DAB from Halfords.... So impressed I've bought two more and fitted them to my Tuscan and sag aswell. It has custom colour selection of the panel and display, so you can match your car interior.Fitted additional Pioneer rear speakers.
DAB works reasonably well with a strip aerial in the dash, but is much better with the DAB roof aerial on the Sag. Bluetooth for hands free phone works well , even with a Nokia Windows Phone ( which it does actually say it supports ) , even downloading the address book, auto cut-out and phone answering on the head unit. It has two USB ports on the rear , so I got a dual USB port fitted in the little dish pocket at the rear of the tunnel.

PS You can also use the USB port to charge devices .

I have the Kenwood KHT 700 (I think that's it.)

It doesn't have a CD slot, but it does have a rear USB, a good sized colour LCD display and you can changed he colour of the keys to match the car interior. I can stand stereos with loads of buttons, this is really simple to use, it all operates with the main wheel control, just like an iPod. The interface is very similar too an iPod.

I have done a couple of upgrades recently too, one to the Pioneer DEH-X8500DAB and the other to the Alpine CDE-178BT.

Both have rear USB ports, Bluetooth for hands-free phone plus music and three line displays amongst lots of other features, but these were key for me.

I tried DAB for the first time too with the Pioneer in the Cerb which had awful FM reception where I live whatever the aerial. With the best DAB areial you can get I now have crackle free radio reception which is a first.

I'm with dazee, I've got a front usb port with a mini usb stick plugged into it that holds every song that I own, thousands of the things on there.
