Having had four rack rebuilds I'd fit the Scooby one instead.

Out of interest, is the scooby a straight swap? Surely not.

When mine failed an MOT on the steering rack I bought a PAS one from a brokers, cost a lot and when fitted it was just as bad despite being told it was low mileage. The garage said they managed to make 1 good one out of the 2 and the other one has been lying on my garage floor for a year. Just wondering if someone would be able to refurb it and benefit from it? Mine's a 1997 so not sure if they changed the racks from the earlier ones?

Scooby rack fits directly with a spacer under the mountsto raise it a tad.

change the track rod ends for TVR.

The tricky part is changing the splined shaft that connects to the column, SteveSPG did that for me.

I probably saved some info so pm me and I'll let you have what I have.

Scooby rack feels almost identical.

I ran mine off a Vectra pump for neatness.

I'd have thought there was a market for a bolt on kit that has all the machined parts in it. Just supply your own rack and pump and away you go smile

As i understand it. Swap your tvr inner tie rods from the tvr rack and screw onto scooby rack. You then have your tvr track rod ends that fit back into the steering arm with no probs.

The pinion on the rack needs undoing and fitting back on 180 degrees round so that it clears the chassis. The end of the pinion then needs maching to hex 7. A Ford Ka uj can then be used as it is hex 7 one end and tvr spline the other. Obviously the short intermediate steering shaft will need altering to hex 7 on one end, or a new one made up.

You need the Scooby rack brackets and bushes also to fix it all to the the chassis. Apparently the scooby brackets fit straight onto the tvr mounting plates, just needing small spacers between bracket and chassis.

Chris YHM.
