Whatever Daz, why don't you actually buy some of the seats you rave about so much and see for yourself ? The point is they don't simply fit straight in if you want to use the existing holes in the floor. Plus I don't have a welder and just do the best I can with what I have.

Get something fabricated ,it is a kit car you know ! I would not expect them to fit, it is a completely different seat.

I simply replied to the question "alternative seats" so posted some pictures of them fitted to Robs car .

Rob fitted them because of his bad back and it cured the problem . Why not mail engineer1949 he fitted some in Nicks car .

I think its a case of the floor has supported before and still will, I did think of making and fitting the seat plates but there were 2 trains of thought, the first being, my seats are mounted on the wrong coregated side of the fiberglass so it would need spacers/packing pieces to stop it damaging the floor, and the second, our car has been through the mill (and the hedge), and despite a few faults the floor has held up with no cracking or splitting, which makes me believe that it will be ok. But its horses for coarses, Some will want the extra support and others decide not, and as you say its a kit car and people do what they want with what they have smile
So are you going to invest then Daz?.... You know you want to wink

Right, both now fitted, I didn't realise initially that the runners on the drivers side had been modified by a previous owner, which made the conversion more difficult than it needed to be, when I removed the passenger seat it was a lot simpler, mind you by then I had a pattern to follow from the drivers side, here you go:

This is a mock up of my final design with 1 ally spacer fitted, shown upside down so to speak. The repair washer sits on the underside of the seat base.

This is the seat frame fitted with 3 spacers.

View under the seat cushion, internal seat base fixings.

Demon Tweeks, road legal 2" wide 3 point, 3 screw in eyes for each harness - 1 to standard seat belt clip mount on transmission tunnel, 1 to standard seat belt mounting on sill just below door opening and 1 screwed through to welded in chassis boss behind the seats, drilled through rear shelf. (fitted to 94/95 year onwards I believe).

Another one of may posts cause you to spend more money ..

I`m going to get some but i want to find out what they are like for long journeys and am i right to say they do not recline .
How much do they actualy cost and how do i colour match or is my interior a standard TVR colour .Do standard seat belts work ?

This is my mates car

Notice the seat belt mod

Or what about Westfield/Caterham seats

Daz, correct they do not recline which is the main reason to take time fitting, trying, removing adjusting, refitting etc, etc to get the base angle right as this sets the back rest angle. I only drove up to Birmingham & back last Sunday and that was with the seat mounted too high for me in reality and I still found it comfortable. I'm sure the comfort will very much depend on the individual and their posture, size & shape. Thanks for the original tip on the seats and when you get yours I'm sure you'll work it out Daz, after all it's only a kit car apparently !!!!!!!!!!
