This comes up all the time on here, and the same goes for most things, shop around. There seems to be about 4 recommended places for paint and outriggers, there are fantastic people out there that don't come with TVR tax, try local engineering shops and Motorsport prep centres for outriggers, and go see small independant body shops, lots of one man bands work to a high standard. You'll know when you speak to them and see what they're working on currently.
Does it actually need the body lifting off and everything being replaced or have you been seduced in to it by the guy on the phone and the pistonheads snobs?

Do what you want of course, but don't just shrug your shoulders and wave goodbye to 10k.

Fair point well made, it all depends on how deep your pockets are really. You never get your money back even if your doing all the work yourself. But that means months or year's of the car being off the road whilst your doing your daily job and working on the car at weekends and evenings. 10k is alot of dosh and if you buy wisely you can buy a well sorted example outright for that kind of money?

Is there or could there be a "price list and where to get them from" list for the most common modifications and upgrades ?

You could try lifting the body yourself. Get it to the point where you know the body will lift (test) and then trailer the car to a local fabricators and get them to weld the outriggers on for you. They could lift the body as much as they need and check the new outriggers for fit. You could then trailer home, lift again and then cold galvanise, followed by a cot of epoxy mastic. One done, bolt everything back together.

Alternatively, if you have the space, get the body off before taking it to the fabricatots. You could then have it media blasted and re-coat the whole chassis. It would save you a lot of money on labour.
