Morning chaps,

Just a quick one. I've done a few fairly long journeys in the car now and noticed that the temp rarely gets up to 80 or above.

Instead it tends to sit at around 70-75, and if cruising along a motor way at around 80mph it tends to sit just under 70.

Now only comparing this with the 911 that tends to sit anywhere between 80-90.

Temp just seemed low, surely better than being high, but thought I'd ask what optimum running temp should be.

Thanks

phazed

check actual temps on Rover Guage. Mine started showing low on both the temp gauge and the software and the thermostat had started opening at 45 degrees! Now it only shows low on the temp guage...

There are quite a few cars, including mine, that run around 10 degrees hotter than the gauge shows.
If you are travelling down a motorway at 70 mph, then that seems ok, and it should increase when in traffic and see what the indicated temp is when your fans cut in.

On a hot day, my 500 sits around 85/86 degs on cruise. On a cold day (like today), I should imagine it will be less. You really need to read the ECU temp for a more accurate reading.

My gauge is at least 10 degrees out to what the running temperature is, checked with a thermostat and rovergauge, weird thing is that it shows the correct temperature when it gets up to 90ish wobble

Mine's similar, in summer its right up there, but this time of year it sits lower, unless your in traffic or letting it idle for a while.
