Anybody Got The ACT Carbon Dash?
Discussion
Hi guys, I'm looking at removing the dash over the winter and am undecided what route to go with it really.
I was thinking maybe to completely strip it back, prep it and paint it body colour, (I work for an accident repair company so can get this done properly) or maybe go the carbon route. I've looked into this and there seems to be a few companies simply wrapping it with a carbon look film, but the ACT one looks to be more like a section of real carbon attached to the dash, giving that deep shiny look as it should.
Has anybody got one of these from ACT at all? Be glad to hear your thoughts and get some better pictures.

If you was looking at a bit of diy with paint and prep, doing it in real carbon fibre isn't much more difficult..

Did mine in real carbon. Easy but a couple of fiddly bits:
1. Where you cut the fibre you can get very small imperfections. This makes no odds because the instruments and switches all have flanges. The stereo does not and so if I did it again I would have the stereo sitting over the c.f. not within it - I.e. cut a slightly smaller hole and surface mount the front of the unit.
2. The triangular LEDs are fiddly to get right. I used a 1mm drill bit and a triangular file.
Otherwise it was a very satisfying job. Make sure the axis of the carbon fibre matches on both panels.

The nicest dash I've seem is an etched/ patterned steel one. It looks grey, with a slight metallic finish and therefore doesn't reflect the sun like the normal steel ones. I'm not sure where to get them, but I recall that Dan Taylor at Taylor TVR has one in his Chim. I looks really nice.
I'm sure somebody on here must know what I'm on about...

Ended up with a VX220 Turbo........ which is being sold on Saturday as I can't drive it without back pain.
Wish I'd kept the Chim now. It was fully sorted when I sold it.
Blimey! That was a bit of a radical change wasn't it? Wish I'd kept the Chim now. It was fully sorted when I sold it.
How did it compare performance wise to the old chim?

The VX 220 Turbo is mental. It'll blow every TVR I've ever had in to the weeds. I absolutely love it but it's causing my back too much discomfort. It's my daily & it's just not going to work. I'm genuinely gutted.
Probably end up in another TVR.
I didn't realise they were that quick, is it standard or has it been played with?Probably end up in another TVR.
have you got it for sale on pistonheads, do you have a link to some pics?

Don't know if it's been chipped but it absolutely ballistic. Here's an example of what they can do.....
Watch the Blue BMW & the bikes go backwards at the 50 secs. That's actually what happens when you overtake. It's hysterical...
