Personally I think we could all do well to show a bit more sympathy for the poor member of our fold who sadly smashed up his lovely TVR.
He must be feeling bad enough right now so lets just hope he hasn't stumbled on all this unsubstantiated speculation as to why this awful thing happened, and worse still the suggestions it's all his fault.
These cars can be tricky in the wet and can bite you no matter how skilled a driver you are, or think you are. The bottom line is there's very little weight over the rear axle, this combined with their short wheelbase & how early on all that torque arrives (especially on the stroked 500) it should be no surprise traction can be lost in damp conditions.
Inevitably and by nature, this loss of traction is unpredictable!
The truth is none of know 100% for sure why the car started to pendulum, you certainly cant tell from a grainy YouTube video, so the fact it's spawned a bunch of speculating bar room experts is a little disappointing to see. We're all big fans of these cars, surely the right thing to do here is pull together to support one of our own?
Lets put our energy into offering words of support to a fellow TVR owner that's had truly horrible and no doubt upsetting experience. Lets also all remember as TVR owners none of us are completely immune to this type of thing!
Think for a moment how you would feel if you crashed your TVR, then think about how you would feel if people were speculating (rightly or wrongly) the cause was down to your incompetence or inability to control your beloved TVR.
Autumn and slippery roads are well and truly upon us now, so lets all take a moment to remember this..
"There for the grace of God go I"
NB: To the owner of the TVR shown in the video I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sympathies, most importantly I genuinely hope you weren't injured.
I'd also like to wish you well with the repairs of your car, the TVR chassis is surprisingly strong and fiberglass can do an amazing job of absorbing & distributing energy away from key structural areas in such incidents.
In summary I hope you're Ok and even though I'm sure the incident must have really shaken you up I hope it hasn't put you off TVR ownership.
Best wishes, Dave.

The driver. The driver. The driver. And then the conditions. I was driving the camera car, the driver and passenger are both ok, I helped them move the car and ensured they where ok.
I posted the video to prove a point I made over on the jaguar area about traction control.
If you watched the video you will see my car twitch just before the TVR lost it, I would love to say I saved it but in reality the electronics kept me out of the wall, and I had them set 1 notch from off.
I removed the video after someone pointed out it could result in trouble for the TVR driver, and that's not something I want as he has enough on his plate.

Tbf rob will be the 1st to admit he drives his sag on track nothing like his chim, and who can blame him when your talking a car worth 10x more than the other? The 1 go I had in it I mathe his time in his own car just showing him the lines so there is plenty more to come out of a sag, just need someone with more money than he knows what to do with to drive it like he stole it lol ala tuscan driver lol
Very salient points from CoG
As some of you will know I lost mine earlier this year, varying reasons put forward and as an experienced driver of some high performance cars it came as a big shock how quickly it was out of control.
Luckily I personally nor anyone else was hurt but my mental state was devastated as to what I had done to my P+J
My heart goes out to the driver of the Chim, I hope he is able to repair it and another one will stay on the road
Luckily for me my car suffered mostly fibre glass damage but for piece of mind I have replaced all front suspension, steering joints and any areas that may have suffered strain in the accident, the chassis was undamaged
The car is fresh back from the painters and looking good and will be back for the summer
They can be a handful and good fun can turn to disaster in the blink of an eye, great great cars but can bite at times

A very important point I failed to mention in the post above is, if it was not for the support, enthusiasm and physical help of my local TVR friends I would probably have given up, they have given me the encouragement and assistance to get the car into its current state and continue to offer help whenever needed
THATS THE TVR COMMUNITY THANKS GUYS

Glad to see you stuck with it. My local tvr support is what makes owning a tvr so pleasurable. Unfortunately some people like to jump on bandwagons and don't think before they type.
Peter, look forward to the new year, did blyton park a few weeks back and was only 98dcb static so trackdays shouldn't be too much of an issue in the tam.

Not time wise yet but 2 seconds driving a t car will tell you it's better. Only a second off with st tyres and st shocks so will beat the chim with ease once I have some new rubber.
I have heard it said that the T cars are a better choice for those who are disadvantaged in the skills department.Well it's only what I've heard.....
Condolences to the chap who's had the accident.... I had a sideways moment last year going WOT in third at 70mph in the wet. It was Shaun's fault, he said it was necessary for the mapping. I don't think he even noticed
