Power or no power is the question
Discussion
Ive been holding out now for a few months trying to find a face lift chimaera with power steering 4.5 if i could find one but they seem to be thin on the ground.
Now ive found a nice early 4.0 but has no power steering although it looks a real nice car.
Im not in any rush to buy one but have been looking since August and starting to get a little impatient.
What would you do?

Have you seen my old 4.6 that i sold a few months ago.
The new owner is selling it for some reason.
He has increased the price substantially but may take a sensible offer.
4.6,many,many mods, PS, British Racing Green, etc, etc.
I certainly have no connection with the owner.
Its on the usual sales sites.

I have no power steering and don't miss it to be honest, yes its harder to turn the wheel at slow speeds, but not that hard and the wheel has a really nice feel at speed and when turning into bends, Its horses for courses. You will have to try one, as you you dont want to miss out on the car with your name on it just cos it hasn't got power steering!.
Peters (Phazed) old car would be an excellent decision
Good luck

Apologies for going a bit off topic, but for good reason this really pi$$es me off.... The new owner is selling it for some reason.

He's selling it exactly as he received it but for substantially more.
Given its winter, there's no logic.
Maybe he's skint and chancing his arm, who knows, there's none so queer etc.......

A bit silly... and TBH, one of the first questions I would ask of any seller (not knowing where the car had come from) would be, 'why are you selling it after such a short time, what is the problem?'. This alone would decrease the chances of me viewing a car... that and all the flowery gumph in the auction/ advert. Trying to hard and asking too much at this time of year.
and this quote... "Excellent oil pressure, 60lbs+ running when hot, 55lbs idle on 0/40 Synthetic oil, no cheating on 15W/40SS". WTF.

Mine's in the classfields at the moment, has electric PAS retrofitted. Seems OK! Maybe think of something like this. It's good in that it's adjustable, so it can be nice and light for round town/parking and then just turn it off once you get on A/B roads. If you're after a facelift 4.5 though it's probably not for you; earliest 400 pretty much.

Any idea what it would cost in part to fit power steering to a non power steering car?car?
Cant be that had a job.

Try going through this thread. Ive just bought a rack and plan to do shortly.
I've had two TVR's without, and the one I have now has it.
If I was in the market for another TVR I would by pass the adds that didn't have it. It's all down to your own personal preference but not having it on the V8s didn't stop me enjoying the car.
Crossing over to the latest Chimaera that has it I much prefer the driving benefit of it for those moments and times when in close tight spaces. You can call me a wimp if you like words don't bother me
