OMG, I hope I haven't started a snowball effect!!! confused

The Chimaera is a great car and is under the radar for the majority. I am changing due to my 'old age' and the impending 'great reaper' so for you guys that are still 'in your prime' don't forego the pleasure and fun that the Chim delivers without too much grief and financial pain!!

I am considering a Noble M12 simply because it's on the list of cars I have never owned, but it makes no sense unless using a serious amount of man-maths!!! eek

Andy, if you want to consider something different the Noble is the only British conceived car that hits the mark, although built in South Africa!!!! ????whistle

I presume you have looked at the selection on Autotrader before going to Italy for yours? You will need to check that they paid VAT in Italy on it, or you could be liable here

Well...I've had my first breakdown now. I blame myself for starting this topic. Suspect it's the driveshaft.

Engine revs rise then a clunkety cluck to a stop?

After a sharp turn I was pulling away hear a metallic clunk and then no power. So not hundred percent sure what it is, could be diff? Garage opens tomorrow hopefully, it's normally aspirated.

Driveshaft or exploding diff.

My Disco one after some aggressive off roading with lots of wheelspin!

I cant believe my gearbox and diff are still alive.
Both rebuilt by John Reid. Top bloke and very reasonable.

Yeah that's what I had narrowed it down to. I'll have to wait and see what extent the damage is

I removed the front prop, engaged diff lock and drove the 60 odd miles home.

I had been taking part in a 4x4 trial on private land.

I've had my Chimaera since 1998. Never let me down, unlike all the sensible Audis I've had as the family car.

Tell me about it.......both Cherman cars kaput, one with ecletical problems, the other randomly non-starting, and now randomly dying too. My main driver now is my Blackpool boy. driving

Absolutely brilliant story, although while you were taking that picture somebody seems to have stolen your roof?
Haha, yeah. I have a removable hardtop, crafted for me by Steve Edwards.

Fantastic!

Did you return through Andorra, a lovely journey!

I drove to Alicante some years ago in a nearly new Sierra 2.0.

After cruising flat out on all motorway sections and returning to England the engine was goosed! The lazy V8 is a far better option smile
No, the main event was really a fortnight away for us in the sun, so the driving was more incidental A-B motorway stuff. I could have done with a month away to do a proper roadtrip and take in some sights and scenes.

had my 4L for 11 years used and abused it left it as a garage queen, used it as a daily driver all year round, used it just in the summer. never let me down. Had to have a new rad, bit of welding, serviced by rvt. 11 years and still going strong.
